Witch Hunt For Sex Offenders In Schools:

Witch Hunt For Sex Offenders In Schools:

This issue is currently being debated in the British House of Commons. And it's most vocal advocate Ms. Ruth Kelly (Member of Parliament), said they should be banned from teaching in British schools, and advocated for a witch hunt against them!

I understand the member of parliament's concern, but I do not support her claim that there should be a man hunt, or witch hunt against them. Because that would be taking the law into one's own hands. And as a member of parliament, she should be the least, to make such ridiculous pronouncements.

I would suggest that all former convicted sex offenders be dis-allowed to teach in schools that teach young children or minors. And that there should be some public notice via the media, notifying the commonweal whenever a sex offender is released from prison, and his/her known whereabouts. Also all potential teacher's criminal records must be provided, before being hired in any public school.

This should be able to restrict such felons from getting into that occupation. But still there are those who are sex offenders, but have not been caught, or convicted as yet. So there is no fool proof method to prevent such slippage.

But something in this regard would be a rational step to make in that direction.

Om Shanti.
