The Queen Of England's 80Th Birthday!

Her Majesty The Queen Of England-Elizabeth II.

The Queen Of England is a constitutional monarch. Which means she has no political power, and cannot form a government, or indulge in foreign or political affairs directly.

As The Head Of State, she is authorized to co-sign all parliamentary briefs/bills, after they are ratified by both Houses Of Parliament. This procedure is thought to give all legislation the constitutional legality it deserves.

The Opening of Parliament, and officially welcoming and receiving foreign dignitaries at the Buckingham Palace is also another one of those official ceremonial duties.

She is also expected to meet with The Prime Minister, to be briefed on domestic policies, at least once per week. Over the past decade, she has been thought of in some quarters as usurping the Public Purse/Duchy, at the expense of the commonweal, and not really contributing anything substantive in return.

Some also ask just how relevant is her role in a modern society, and in a world where monarchs are not really revered any longer. But generally, the British people relish their traditions, and the Queen is a true and profound symbol of that tradition, and is not yet ready to relinquish that part of it just yet.

God Save The Queen!

Om Shanti.

Caught Between Iraq & A Hard Place:

Caught Between Iraq & A Hard Place!

A soldier's lamentation:

We were told by our commanders that anytime soon we would be expected to invade Afghanistan.

When that decision was taken we left in high spirits, because we thought we had it all figured out.

The terrorist bases in that country will be our target, and we would spare no one from our wrath.

After all, the World Trade Towers, and thousands of Americans paid the ultimate price, without even knowing it at the time.

So we took care of that problem, sort of. But remained vigilant, should the Taliban raise it's ugly head again in that country.

We would crush it once more into submission.

Then we were told that Sadam has weapons of mass destruction, and posed a threat to US interests in that region, and the political and economic stability in that region was at stake.

So into Iraq we went, with blazing saddles, metal and iron horses that spewed fire in every direction. And in no time, we were in Bhagdad!

Somewhat disappointing to us though, after being told of the ferrousity that was awaiting us back there.

Eventually, Sadaam's regime crumbled, his military forces dissipated, or went underground, and we shouted victory!

Today however, we are still trying to consolidate that victory in Iraq. With hundreds dying daily among us, civilian casualties in the thousands, and rising daily. And an ethnic and religious civil war that was just waiting to erupt, before we came into Iraq.

I am now left with the question, was it worth the lives lost, the limbs lost, the pain of families, friends, and love ones who are reeling from this madness in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Politicians make the decision to go to war. But it is us the soldiers on the ground, who pays with his life and limbs, to make this scenario possible. And I still cannot see the reason for all of this death and dying any longer.

I want out badly, but I cannot say it out loud, because my buddies will not like it, even though many of them feel the same way too. Our pledge of allegiance, our belief in the values of Freedom & Liberty, under democracy, is what we have to hold on to in these perilous times.

But I still want out!

But is caught in Iraq & A Hard Place!

Om Shanti.

Exotic Dancing & Sexual Molestation:

April 17-2006:

TO: Paula Zahun
CNN.com

Hello Paula,

I was watching your show and interview with Rev. Jesse Jackson on CNN tonight, and would like to make the following comments.

You asked Rev. Jackson why it is that the woman who has accused some athletes from the Duke University of Rape or molestation, she chose to do that kind of work. If she couldn't find some other job.

Well, I get the impression from your question, that Exotic Dancers are asking to be raped, for choosing that type of employment. But may I remind you that thousands of young men and women do that kind of work, to help pay college tuition in this country.

And exotic dancers, (both male and females), are sought after from men and women, from all echelons of this society, to entertain them privately, and publicly, for a fee. And you may be surprised to find out if some member of your family or relatives, have patronized such dancers at some point in time too!

Furthermore, exotic dancing is quite legal in this country. She was not selling sex to these athletes. So until this case is litigated, one must be very careful not to insinuate anything that may subsequently prove unfair, or hurtful to the victim.

Sincerely

Derryck S. Griffith.

Sexual Dysfunction & Impotence Explained:

Sex & Libido Dysfunction or Impotence:

Definition:
Inability (usually of a male to copulate):

Traditionally, when the male is unable to get or sustain a FIRM erection, long enough to penetrate a vagina or anus, he was considered IMPOTENT. Over the years, clinical studies have refuted that conception. It has been proven to be quite the contrary;

Most men during their adolescent years or way into their forties-fifties and sixties, will at some point in their sexual life, experience periods of "erectile dysfunction."

This can stem from several things. eg

* Alcoholism or excessive use of alcohol before sexual intercourse, or a history of alcoholic consumption.

* Recreational drugs like GHB-Crystal meth- Excessive Marijuana Usage- Crack, & other party drugs.

* IDU or Injection drug use of heroine, can also be a factor that contributes to ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION.

* A person who is HIV positive or has immune deficiency problems.

* A person who indulges heavily in drug and alcohol useage.

* A person who is DIABETIC and is using medication for it.

* Prostrate problems, and is taking medication for it.

* A heavy cigarette smoker, or smoking cigarettes generally.

* Lack of exercise: Too much fatty foods: OBESITY or Too Much Body fat.

* Depression: Or feelings of helplessness or in-adequacy.
Which may stem from depression.

SOLUTIONS:

* Consulting with your doctor for help, is a necessity:

* There are a host of drugs available to help, or remedy this problem.
eg, VIAGRA: CIALICE: CELEBREX: LIPITOR: TESTOSTERONE: LEVITRA: etc.

* I would suggest that if you are married, or living with a mate (male or female), you both should see and discuss this problem together with a doctor.

That will help the doctor to fully comprehend the situation, it's causes, and how much it affects your sex life together, thus making it easier for him/her to recommend a solution.

* Make sure that the doctor you see, has the knowledge or is qualified to deal with this kind of malady. If he/she isn't, then ask him/her to give you a reference to some other doctor who is qualified to do so.

FINALLY:
* Females too have LIBIDO problems, which can be a factor of inadequate stimulation, or the inability to reach climax during sexual intercourse.

* Partners who are unable to make her fully sexually aroused, or no foreplay:

* An experience or flashback of sexual abuse like rape, or sexual ill-treatment from a former mate or partner.

* Distractions like A PORN MOVIE, which you might be distracted by or more focused on, except her during sex.

* Not asking your woman or wife if you are making her fully aroused. Or not asking her what part of her body makes her fully aroused during foreplay.

* Both of you (together) should discuss this problem with a qualified doctor, who is experienced or qualified in this field.

Peace!

Mass Murder At Tiananmen Square!

Mass Murder At Tiananmen Square!

Tank Man of 1989 Wang Weilin, or the Unknown Rebel is the nickname of the anonymous man who became internationally famous, when he was filmed and photographed standing before a line of seventeen or more tanks, during the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989 in the People's Republic of China.

The photo was taken by Jeff Widener, a member of the Associated Press, from the sixth floor of the Beijing Hotel, about half a mile away through a 400mm lens.

The still and motion photography of the man standing alone before a line of tanks, reached international audiences practically overnight. It headlined hundreds of major newspapers and news magazines, and was the lead story on countless news broadcasts around the world.

In April 1998, the United States magazine TIME included the "Unknown Rebel" in its 100 most influential people of the 20th century

Incidentally, the true identity or validity of who Wang Weilin was, is still to be validated! Could the bravery of that man on that infamous day, be re-lived once again in China?

That is yet to be realized, considering the great divide between the new middle classes, the wealthy, and the privileged, in the big and ever growing cities.

At the demise of the millions in rural China, still clinging for survival in an economy, that seem to cater more to the Big City's economic development. And the Communist Party's political quest to compete as equals in the global economy.

Judas Iscariot's New Role!

April 06-2006:

Was Judas Really A Judas?

The name Judas has been associated with the apostle Judas from Juda in Palestine, during the time of Jesus's mission. He is alleged to have informed the Roman authorities about Jesus's whereabouts, for thirty pieces of silver, thus causing his arrest, and subsequent crucifixion.

Today however, the BBC announced that papyrus found in a cave in Egypt in the 1970's, after extensive forensics, and scientific carbon dating, have discovered new information that would seem to indicate, that historical information associated with Jesus's betrayal, was not really so.

According to the report, these papyrus documents revealed that Judas told Jesus that he was instructed by God to betray him. So with this new revelation, the historic concept of Judas's action on that famous night, when the cock crowed twice, now has to be reconciled.

Would the established Christian churches be willing to accept this new find or theory, after centuries of mis-information to it's followers?

------------------------------

Furthermore:

All writers have a tendency to interpret what their audience may have said, or meant. And all the so called Jesus's teachings were re-written several times. In fact, the Gospels were re-written so many times, that I cannot believe that what we have today in the Christian Bible, is truly the teachings of Jesus. But that is what the Christian theologians want their followers to believe. And that is what is promoted by Christian churches, and followers internationally.

Therefore, whenever new physical evidence, such as (The Dead Sea Scrolls, or these new Papyrus documents) are discovered, we then discover that what we were told so many times, and so long ago, may not necessarily be the 'whole truth' or even truth! What we have to do as thinkers, is to apply reason, circumstance, cultural differences, and cultural interpretations, to determine the plausibility, or un-plausibility of any new information.

That is our responsibility as individual thinkers, teachers, and promoters of a philosophy, that is still evolving in complexity!

The Judas Iscariot Contradictory Role:

With this new revelation or Judas as a facilitator, for the martyrdom of Jesus, it would seem from these findings, that Jesus felt that in order for him to be believed, for what he represented, or felt was his mission in life, could only be accomplished by martyrdom.

Thus leaving a legacy, that will solidify his position in that role, for generations to come!

Om Shanti.

Categories Of Illegal Immigrants Explained:

Categories Of Illegal Immigrants Explained:

1. Legal entrance, but remained here in the USA when the VISA (or permit) expired, thus becoming an illegal resident:

2. Entered The USA without an official Passport or a Visa:

3. Legal sponsorship, and disappearing afterwards from sponsor's supervision or knowledge:

4. Entered the USA via forged documents:

5. Seeking asylum and risking deportation:

6. Seeking asylum and automatically given it, after reaching the USA shores safely, eg (The Cubans):

7. Crossing the Mexican/American borders illegally, to seek employment:

8. Trafficking of male and female prostitutes from Eastern Europe, or (the former Soviet Union Satellite countries):

Each of these known categories need some explaining. And I shall try to do so,with the best of my knowledge and ability.

Categories Explained:

Category#1:

When a person legally enters the USA, that person/s would have satisfied the immigration authorities with the necessary requirements, such as a health check, a visa, a passport, a tax clearance from their home country, and a financial report that validates his/her ability to sustain his/herself while in residence here.

Category #2.

When a person enters the USA without the above official requirements, he or she is violating the immigration requirements, and would be categorized as an illegal alien/immigrant.

Category #3.

a. When some foreigner is sponsored by some employer or American national, he or she is the sole responsibility of that sponsor. Current laws vary regarding the types of sponsorships. But importantly, the sponsor must show valid legal reasons why he or she is sponsoring that foreign born person.

b. And what he or she is expected to do for them, while here in the USA.

c. And if he or she has the necessary financial ability to support or finance that person's welfare while in The USA.

d. And is also legally responsible for any felonious misdeeds that this person may have committed. while here in the USA.

Category #4.

a. When a person/s enters the USA with forged documents, and manages to escape detection by the immigration authorities. Then that person/s is an illegal immigrant/alien, and could be apprehended and deported.

Categories #5 & 6.

a. When a person enters the USA legally or illegally seeking asylum, is doing so in good faith, and is also risking deportation.

b. That person will have to get legal representation by a Lawyer/Attorney or Advocate, and show valid or substantive documentation to support his or her claim for asylum.

c. The only people who are granted almost immediate asylum, if they manage to reach America's shores, are the Cubans. And that arrangement has legal approval.

Category #7.

When persons cross the Mexican/American border illegally, they could be apprehended and taken back to Mexico, or even arrested and deported. This situation is currently hotly debated, because most or all of these illegal entrants, are seeking seasonal employment, in and around the territories in that geographic region.

Category #8.

Trafficking of men, boys, or women from Eastern Europe, or (the former Soviet Union satellite countries), into the USA for prostitution work, is illegal, and punishable under current USA laws pertaining to that situation.

This phenomenon is also being done by the Chinese underground railroad, that deals with illegals whom they promise a better way of life, with financial gain for self and family here in the USA.

And whom are at the mercy, and personal risk of death, if they fail to repay the travel expenses to their facilitators, when they get to the American shores, and discovers that all that was promised was a fallacy.

CONCLUSION:

The current immigration discussions within the US House Of Representatives & Senate, has far reaching consequences to those who represent the regions/constituencies, that have large volumes of illegal Spanish Speaking residents.

This debate or concern is only seen as important in communities with such large volumes of this ethnic group/s, that residents in those communities feel insecure, threatened economically, and plays into the hands and stereotypes, that the general culture portrays about these people.

Such as criminal elements, undercutting jobs, providing services for less than minimum wage, and does not pay taxes.

Most of these fears however, are unfounded because most illegals pay the prescribed taxes via their wages. Even though most of their employers do not submit these taxes to the Feds or State governments as they are legally supposed to do. This may be because most of these employees are illegals without official SS identity numbers, or has forged documentation.

Also, some employees are working 'under the books,' which means, that taxed contributions are not shown in the employers payroll. Hence, does not require them to submit any taxes to the Feds or State authorities.

Finally, this debate overshadows the Immigration Dilemma that the USA has allowed to fester for decades, because it helped Big & Small businesses alike, to manipulate and exploit illegal workers, with poor wages, terrible working conditions, no health care, and the ability to hire and fire them at random, without valid or substantive reason/s.

Beware Of The Bloggers:

Beware of the Bloggers!

Definition Of Blogging:
A person who shares his or her personal diary or journal
Online!

The Internet-A Free Medium For Expression!

Gone are the days when if you had something to say of substance, or wanted to reach large volumes of readers, you had to purchase space in a newspaper, time on radio, or publish a book. With the advent of The World Wide Web, all you need is an Internet connection, a computer & modem, and all of your wishes (almost), will be realized via this medium.

There was a time when I wanted to publish my Poetry, and the voluminous articles that I had written and accumulated over the years, but could not afford a periodical publication in the local press. Nor could I have imagined the possibility of reaching thousands, all in one go, or with the click on a button.

Today, this opportunity via the Internet has provided me with volumes of readers from all over the world. I have chatted and made friends hitherto impossible with Pen Pals or local postal mailing. The cost would have been too great. And the time for letters and responses takes too long, to move from person to person in the traditional fashion.

So I welcome The Web with open arms, and has been exploiting it to the best of my ability. But caution must be observed, Today there is so much information being disseminated via the Internet, that it is very difficult to ascertain "truth from falsehood" However, with experienced eyes, vigilant and analytic minds, one could in time decipher different types of propaganda, from objective reporting, to journalistic information.

Let us respect this medium, and be mindful of our fellows, all of whom have something to say at some time or another. Move on if we do not appreciate someone's opinion. Debate issues, welcome different opinions, and encourage participation at all times.

And remember, even The Dull & Ignorant have a Role To Play in this Cosmic Drama!

Please Oppose S.2426-The Cyber safety for Kids Act:

Hillary Rodham Clinton
Senator (D-New York)
Charles 'Chuck' E. Schumer.
Senator Hilary Rodon Clinton.

Please Oppose S.2426, the Cyber Safety for Kids Act:

As an Internet user with a concern for free speech issues, I am writing to you to voice my opposition to S.2426, the Cyber Safety for Kids Act. This bill would require all sites with sexually explicit content to move to a new ".xxx"-style domain, which the U.S. government would require be created for this purpose.

This is a misguided and impractical attempt to restrict protected speech on the Internet, which will impose a heavy cost on those who publish online. Many American Net users that are not dealing with pornography, such as sites discussing birth control options, will be obliged to move to an online ghetto or risk massive civil penalties. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of adult sites outside of American jurisdiction won't have to move, rendering any filtering based on the new domain name useless.

The bill will undoubtedly be challenged under the First Amendment. Given the alternative recourses available to those monitoring their children's Net use and the burden the new domain will place on lawful speech, it will almost certainly be found unconstitutional.

Please stand against this clumsy, impractical, and unconstitutional attempt to regulate Internet speech.

Oppose S.2426, the Cyber Safety for Kids Act.

Sincerely,

Arab Fascism In The Middle East:

March 31-2006:

The More Things Change-The More They Stay The Same:

Do you know that the Baath Party got it's roots from The Grand Mufti's involvement with Adolf Hitler, and his Nazi Party's efforts to exterminate the Jews from the face of the earth.

So when Nazism was defeated in Germany by the allied forces during World War 11, the Grand Mufti fled to Egypt, and there he continued the Fascist Policy/Agenda to exterminate the Jews.

Sadam Hussein was a dictator who was influenced by his uncle (Kiralla Tofa), who was dismissed from the Iraqi Army, when the British retook Palestine after the war with the Jews, and subsequently giving them their own State of Israel. The Palestinians felt betrayed by the then League Of Nations, who carved out that territory for them.

So today the Palestinian struggle to remove the Israeli State from their neighborhood, and Hamas'constitutional policy to eradicate the Jewish State, is also the Arabs covert agenda today.

So Adolf Hitler's fascist/racist policies continue, with Non-European faces today, in the middle east.

To Smoke Or Not To Smoke Marijuna-That Is The Question:

To Smoke Or Not To Smoke Marijuana-That Is The Question:

Some respondent said in his response that some people smoke marijuana, but they are not criminals. I also know lots of people who smoke cigarettes, and they too are not criminals!

But these two comments are subjective in content!

However, this society (The USA) currently, is divided as to the benefits and ills that marijuana have on users. Some say that it helps them to cope with severe pain, where other pain medicines do not work effectively.

Some say let qualified medical doctors prescribe marijuana to his or her patients, according to their needs, and based on the prognosis of that need. And with legal or legislative agreement or enactment.

Then their is the clinical scientific communities which claims, that too much marijuana usage could cause brain damage/impairment, dementia, inability to think or reason clearly, and a host of other neurological disabilities overtime.

So this debate goes on, and some states allow legal prescription of marijuana, for certain aliments. While others refuse to legalize it.

Currently, there are 11 states that allow medical marijuana to be sold legally. California, Alaska, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington.

Afghanistan National Runs For His Life:

March 28-2006:

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - An Afghan man who had faced the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity quickly vanished Tuesday after he was released from prison, apparently out of fear for his life with Muslim clerics still demanding his death.

Attention:

When there is a religion or religious philosophy that decrees the death of any convert or devotee, who decides to abdicate or excommunicate himself or herself from that religion. This is no longer a religion based on GOOD, but one based on subjectivity, personal sanctions, control, coercion, threats, and is downright EVIL.

This is the prevailing view of rational thinking people, who are still able to make their voices heard internationally, against this horrific declaration for death, to someone who chose to remove himself from that which he no longer believes in.

This is a graphic display of the lack of 'Freedom of Choice' in Afghanistan, a country that was liberated from religious sectarian fanatic rulers, by the world's most powerful democracy, (The USA), only to be embarrassed by this primitive Islamic punitive Law.

I hope that Abdul Rahman is able to get the asylum he so desperately needs at this time, from some friendly, political system/country.

Om Shanti.

My Emigration To The USA:

April 15-2005:

Coming To America!

This is an attempt to re-capture my formative years as a child growing up in British Guiana, my entrance into the world of work; my spate of service in The Guyana National Service Institution, Trade Union Activism & eventual emigration to The U.S.A.

I was born a raised in Charlestown. Georgetown, Demerara. British Guiana. Son of Ms. Enid Patricia Griffith. As a child I attended The Carmel R.C. School up to fifth standard, then left to enter the job market. This decision was taken after deliberation within myself, based on the harsh realities at home for survival.

We were very poor, my mother struggled without a male (father figure) to support us financially. You see, I was the only male out of five children, Patricia (the eldest), Derryck (that's me), Valerie, Eulyn & Eileen Griffith. We were all conceived 'out-of-wedlock.'

I was told on several occasions by my mother that my father disappeared when I was at the tender age of three. He left one day after visiting my mother to return to take me to see a 'cricket match' at the local stadium, but never came back since!

I left Primary School at 16, and sought employment with The Guiana Lithographic Co. Ltd. It was one of The Booker Group of Industries in the colony of Guiana. This was a printing & box-making business that catered primarily to the Service Oriented Industries. There I worked as an 'In House Office Boy/Messenger' for a weekly wage of $11.25 cents per week. (8 hours per day).

I started in June-1963 to January 1975. I became a victim of Structural Re-organization; which the company claimed to be necessary, as result of rising overheads & declining demand for it's services locally and abroad.

Pollard's Govt. Aided Self-help Housing Group:
"Meadow Brook Gardens."

This was a period in my life that today is still very painful to talk about, much less write about. But it must be written, and it can only be written by me, for I am the only survivor of that experience capable of explaining it, because I was personally involved throughout the entire project!

Sometime in the 1960's my mother who was a member of a group of individuals that wanted to own their own home, was eventually given the opportunity to realize it from the then PNC government headed by Prime Minister L.F.S.Burhnam.

This Housing Project was one of several that was implemented by the government, to aid poor people in attaining homes with State assistance. This concept was called the 'self-help' or co-operative approach for building homes. Several groups were called in, lands were identified for each group to build houses on, accompanied by a government Supervisor/organizer for official guidance & supervision of building materials.

We were called 'Self-helpers' & toiled days & nights for over two years in the building process. The work was dreadfully hard for me as a child. My Mom had to fool the authorities about my age (because minors) were not allowed to help in the building of these homes. I suppose several members of our group knew that I was under-age, but no one 'snitched.'

We were all poor people, and desperate to have a home to call our own! In the rainy days & nights that followed, fighting the mosquitoes & gnats and coping with the flooded lands that we were given to build on, we toiled relentlessly until it's completion.

The going was very rough for the women especially among us. The men often made them feel in-adequate by saying they were not pulling their weight, and the men had the BRUNT of the work to shoulder. The supervisor in his capacity as overseer, then would try to pacify these contentions as he sees fit, by encouraging UNITY and comraderie among us. This helped greatly to alleviate many quarells from getting out of hand or physical.

Our homes were eventually completed in 1978, the keys handed to each resident at a Total Cost then of $3 to 4,000.00 dollars per Unit. Payable in monthly installments of $25.00 dollars to The Ministry Of Housing, (Housing Dept). We moved in, all five of us.

My Mom (Enid, me, Valerie, Eulyn & Eileen),with the exception of my eldest sister Patricia, who was by then already married & living with her husband in Kitty Village, Newtown Georgetown. My mom became ill some time afterwards from a heart condition & subsequently died.

The burden of paying the monthly/rental payments fell upon me now. Before my mother died though, she never really liked being there. She complained that it was too far for her to get to, and it encroached upon her ability to continue puntering-gambling at the local 'horse-race betting shop.

So shortly after moving in, she deliberately stayed away at her friend's home (as she referred), to be able to get personal help with her illness.
Incidentally, this friend of hers "never gave us a dime" to assist me or anyone of us with the burial of my mother, (her so-called friend)!

I worked at several jobs subsequently, for example, The Ministry Of Information & Culture: The General Post Office: J.P.Santos (a private business enterprise): The Guyana National Service, and finally The National Insurance Scheme from 1977 to 1989. During my years of employment I tried to gain as much knowledge as was available to me. I did a one year stint at The University Of Guyana (Soc. 100) Sociology & Political Philosophy.

Attended several training courses sponsored by The Guyana T.U.C. (Trades Union Council); because I was also an ardent representative of workers rights/shop steward, rising to the level of 'Branch Secretary of The Amalgamated Transport & General Worker's Union, (A.T.&.G.W.U.) at the NIS Branch. I left Guyana on April-30-1989 to attend A Leadership Training Course at The George Meany Training Center, in Silver Spring, Maryland. Virginia. This was intended to be for the month of May-1989. But at the conclusion of this exercise, I remained here in America!

My Travel Visa:

The travel visa that I was issued with from the American Embassy in Barbados, in-transit to the U.S.A. allowed me to stay in America for only 'one month.' There was no work permit or extension allowed at completion, but a proviso that I should return to Guyana & serve my country or Trade Union for at least three years, before I can re-apply for a return visa to America to reside (if I so wish). Therefore, after over staying-violating my visa conditions, I automatically became illegal or (un-documented).

After which I sought legal advice & representation since 1994, and is still awaiting The Federal Government's approval for legal residence/Green Card Status! This process may take years to unfold, because America's foreign policies differ from country to country in relation to emigration quotas. Presently, under the National Security/Terrorist Act of 2002 it has become much more difficult to attain this status. With the new regulations of checks & counter-checks; targeted countries as Terrorist Havens, these regulations are being enforced, sometimes with impunity.

Coming To New York:

Growing up in Guyana, we are led to believe by most of our relatives abroad, that they would help us upon arrival in America or anywhere else for that matter. We are led to believe that we could count on them to assist family in times of dire need, because we are family, & family is supposed to help each other out at these times. Well, that's a fallacy for many of us, because reality very often contradicts this view.

I left Guyana after suffering emotionally, psychologically & mentally from the lack of socio-economic opportunities available to most Guyanese. Living in a depressing and mis-managed economy, coupled with political strife, and petty political squabbles indulged by our political leaders is the reality of life back home. One would expect that relatives who escaped this harsh reality would extend themselves to those left behind, whose ability to escape a similar fate is questionable, but obviously this is not the experience of most of us who encounter our relatives upon arrival in the land of opportunity.

I sought help in a form of accommodation from an acquaintance who was living on Long Island at the time. I moved in with my acquaintances shortly thereafter, and stayed for over two years. Eventually my friend complained that the burden of supporting me was becoming too much for her to bear and indicated that I should seek alternative accommodation.

This situation was hinged upon the fact that I was encouraged to go 'shop lifting' with her relatives, and when I voiced objection, I was spurned, rebuked & insulted, and threatened with eviction from their home. It is important to note that I resided under what one might call oppressive conditions.

A few of the house rules included the fact that I was not allowed to return after midnight, as well as the fact that I was not allowed to receive visitors or friends. Albeit, I was un-documented, (illegal) in this country, with no job or prospects, so how could my fate be different given my circumstances? It is really amazing that the human conditions one can live through, void of options!

Realizing that I was totally alone in this situation, desperate & homeless with no place to turn, I mustered all the internal strength and resolve that was necessary, and told myself that it is now 'do or die.'

I had no intention of returning home to Guyana anytime soon. Primarily, I would be given another visa, I would lack the financial means it would require to return. I refused to allow myself to even remotely consider the possibility of wasting this opportunity of landing in America.

I was faced with the harsh reality of survival at any cost, so I took action. I was offered false documents from underground (illegal) sources for a considerable amount of American dollars. With this new identity I was able to temporarily seek employment, but was always fearful of being caught at anytime by the authorities. This cat & mouse game continued for some time.

Being the product of a family that were law abiding people, who were respectful of the law & authorities, I harbored a great deal of guilt, shame and fear about getting caught at anytime. Reality be told, this perception of fear was merely a figment of my imagination, as no one ever approached me about my status!

The Tribulations Of The Un-documented:

Being an un-documented person in America today could be a nightmare for anyone. The present Patriot Act. of 2002 gives The Immigration & Naturalization Department lots of power to arrest, detain and deport any un-documented foreigner without access to an attorney. They can be held indefinitely for long periods of time in 'A Detention Center' without access to an attorney, because under this law they have "no legal rights.'

If you test positive for HIV, the only medical help available to you is The Emergency Medical Unit at a Public Hospital. No prescription drugs are covered, or doctor's fees. Families invariably will not be inclined to keep you in their homes for fear that when you eventually become incapacitated, the bills will have to be paid by them. this is a serious matter as you the unfortunate individual find yourself in a position where you cannot seek employment because you are illegal.

Therefore, you are unable to contribute to or provide for your up-keep. My Caribbean/Central & South American brothers and sisters are being infected with HIV/AIDS disease at a colossal rate, primarily through ignorance, (lack of knowledge), cultural, language barriers, social & religious stigma, as well as fear of accessing preventive services and counseling.

This is the reality of life in America today for any illegal individual. I have sworn to voluntarily contribute my experiences and abilities, in helping to advocate for and on behalf of people living with HIV/AIDS and their families. This I started doing since 1997 in New York City, and the outer borroughs.

This activity involves lobby visits to Legislators, Congressmen/women in the NY State & US Senate. It is my belief that we all have a role to play in the process of making sure that there is equity among the laws, regulations and policies that impacts the lives of all peoples.

It is important to state that there are thousands of Guyanese living in America that are legal residents, but for some reason are not inclined to become citizens. They are missing out on all benefits that citizens and naturalized aliens are entitled to. Their status renders them incapable of assisting all Caribbean People Of Color, from acquiring the political representation at the Polls, because without citizenship you cannot vote.

This situation is chronic among Caribbean & African nationals alike. They come to America, live for years, accumulate property, but seem satisfied with this precarious situation. That is why we do not have the political 'CLOUT' that is necessary to make things happen for our populations.

PS: Whatever The Human Mind Can Conceive & Believe, Can Be Achieved!

We Are All Connected:

We Are All Connected:

Ever heard the expression 'we are all one human family,' or that 'all beings come from the same source. I am sure you have at some time in your life. Well, here is my understanding of this perception.

I believe that we are all infinite beings that have been able to appear finite, some elements of our infinite nature. In other words, the infinite or invisible, through it's own processes, are able to manifest itself in different, forms, elements, or even solids or matter. And the human organism is just one aspect of that transformation of invisible energy.

I also believe that this connection never ceases, even when it takes on different aspects of itself. For example, when the invisible is transformed in animals, water, human, birds, or even plants. This life force is still connected. Some humans can trace their ancestral link genetically currently, but we can also trace our invisible link too.

But this will take some effort to understand, process, and access.

I have read some enlightened men or sages talk of being in a state of total awareness, and in that state, they were able to see, comprehend, and understand the entire universe, its' function, and the roles we humans play in this cosmic experience/drama.

Sounds impossible, but I do believe that it is possible to be so in tune with our inner being, that all of those things most of us feel is important, real, interesting, or false, is only a reflection of the invisible and incomprehensible process, that the brain is still grappling with.

Therefore, I have come to understand the expression enlightenment, and what it truly means.

I think it means that state of being, and knowing who we are, where, what, why, and how things are, the way they are, or seem to be. And when that realization takes place, the enlightened one, understands everything. And has no further need to question any longer.

Om Shanti.

We Must Never Forget:

You Must Never Forget"

Do you realize that the Christian Bible, that most of us righteously refer to, in times of desperation and need, was used to enslave Blacks, ever since the European set eyes on him eons ago.

Do you realize that it is still used today to enslave Blacks with it's Jesus-Messiah promotion, that you so diligently worship, pray to, and believe will save your pathetic souls, some time in the infinite future?

Do you realize that Blacks are some of the principal promoters of this evil philosophy, that is being used to continue the same enslavement of Blacks, all over the world today.

Yes, the favorite lamentation of Blacks the world over is "Thank You Jesus."

Om Shanti.

Iraq Civil War-2006:

Well someone finally admitted that Iraq is in a Civil War situation. All the signs are there for all who have eyes to see, yet the Blair & Bush administration denies it.

As a matter of fact, they cannot face the truth that this war is going nowhere positive soon. And both of these political leaders are in the last leg of their political sojourn in office.

So trying to save face is what they are hoping for. But commonsense demands that constituents on both geographic regions, deserves the TRUTH about the situation on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Failing to fezup with to the people, will only continue to generate more distrust, disillusionment, and no-confidence for these wars.

The continuous lives being lost, maimed, and a build-up of disabled military personnel, that taxpayers would have to finance and support, for the rest of their lives!

China Shuts Down Outspoken Bloggers:

China shuts down outspoken blog:

By Sebastian Usher
BBC's world media correspondent

One of China's most outspoken and widely read blogs has been closed down by the authorities.
Massage Milk has recently featured extensively in international coverage of China's vibrant blogger scene and its conflict with the government.

Another two outspoken blogs have also been suspended.

The closures coincide with the annual session of the Chinese parliament, when media control is tightened even further, particularly on the internet.

'Temporarily closed'

Massage Milk may sound like the kind of product hawked on unsolicited emails, but it has attracted a lot of attention both inside and outside China for its sardonic take on the country's heavily censored state media.

The site belongs to a journalist based in Beijing, Wang Xiaofeng.

His irreverence about all aspects of daily life in the Chinese capital has won him considerable popularity.

It has also earned him a prestigious international bloggers' award.

The site formed the centrepiece of an article on blogging in China in last month's edition of the US current affairs magazine, Newsweek.

Now, Mr Wang's high profile seems to have attracted the disapproval of the Chinese government, which administers the most sophisticated system of internet censorship and control anywhere in the world.

A note on his site reads simply but pointedly: "Because of unavoidable reasons, this blog is now temporarily closed."

The authorities exert even tighter control than usual on how Chinese citizens express themselves during the parliament's session, particularly on the blogs that many of the country's more than 100 million internet users have set up.

Drug Trial-Five Critically Ill-One Spared Because Of placebo:

March 16-2006:

Drug Trials Hospitalize Six In Britain:

By Robert Barr,
Associated Press Writer
March 15, 2006

LONDON --Six men participating in trials of a new drug to treat autoimmune diseases and leukemia were seriously ill in a London hospital after suffering adverse reactions, a hospital official said Wednesday. British regulators ordered an immediate suspension of the drug tests.

Ganesh Suntharalingam, clinical director of intensive care at Northwick Park Hospital, said two of the men were in critical condition and four were in serious condition but showing signs of improvement. All six fell ill on Tuesday night.

Waltham, Mass.-based research organization Parexel International, which supervised the trial, identified the drug as TGN1412, a monoclonal antibody developed by TeGenero AG of Wuerzburg, Germany to treat autoimmune and inflammatory diseases and leukemia. "The drug, which is untested and therefore unused by doctors, has caused an inflammatory response which affects some organs of the body," Suntharalingam said.

The names of the six men were not released. But one woman said her boyfriend, a 28-year-old London bar manager, was among them. "They just keep saying he's very, very sick and we are doing all we can," Myfanwy Marshall told the British Broadcasting Corp. "They are saying he could be lying there in six months. He needs a miracle, those were their words."

Marshall told the BBC her boyfriend had decided to participate in the trial for the cash -- about $3,500 -- to pay bills. The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, which ordered the tests suspended, said the six were the only people given the drug in a small trial. Two other subjects received placebos.

"Our immediate priority has been to ensure that no further patients are harmed," said Kent Woods, the agency's chief executive officer. "We will now undertake an exhaustive investigation to determine the cause and ensure all appropriate actions are taken." Dr. Herman Scholtz, head of Parexel International Clinical Pharmacology, said such adverse drug reactions are extremely rarely and it was an "unfortunate" situation.

"These events were completely unexpected and do not reflect the results we obtained from initial laboratory studies, which enabled us to progress investigations into human volunteers," TeGenero's chief executive Dr. Benedikte Hatz said. Parexel International "adhered to standard clinical research guidelines," said Dr. Thomas Hanke, the company's chief scientific officer.

Hanke said TGN1412 had not caused any problems in previous testing and called for the investigation into the "shocking developments" to move quickly.

CONCLUSION:

It is unfortunate that people have to resort to doing things they would not otherwise do, in order to pay bills, or survive. These six men who entered this drug trial, did so in good faith, based on the information given them, and possibly signed to, that did not specify clearly, these side affects.

For the sum of $3,500.00 British Pounds, these men made a fatal decision. Only one of them received a placebo, and that is what saved him from that disastrous experience.

This leaves me to ponder the question, is it safe or wise to trust the Drug manufactures with HIV medications, and other drugs? With human drug trials, based on flimsy or very basic information, about what these drugs may or may not do, to harm the user.

Or should we find a substitute similar to humans in immunity, to test new drugs on?

Racial & Ethnic Contamination Concepts:

Racial & Ethnic Contamination Concepts:

I am not sure what is meant by 'A Devil Gene.' However, contamination took place centuries ago, when the first Tribe or Clan encountered another foreign to them. With sexual interaction and procreation from those acts, resulted in contaminated genes, and "HYBRID" offspring.

Thence the cycle of 'HYBRID' offspring begun. These offspring took on an identity unique to the clan or group's description of them.

So in time we get different classifications of people, called ethnic groups.

Blacks, Whites Asians, Orientals, are all classifications that resulted from inter-sexual relations, and their offspring.

Overtime, whoever was the dominant political ruler or power, decided who is better or superior to the others under their rulership. This has been happening for centuries, and every ethnic group, at some point in time, had been the victims of this victimization, denegration, slavery, and subserviency.

Racial Or Ethnic Purity No Longer Exists:

I don't know if you saw the recent documentary of "Black Heritage" on PBS.org, where it was shown GENETICALLY, that most Black Americans have European blood genetically. This evidence was also validated genetically, by several geneticists in that particular field.

Therefore, there is no living human being on this planet that is genetically/ethnically pure. The purity of any clan, ethnic group, or race, became void when the first sexual copulation took place between two people. A male and a female from different ethnic groups.

The offspring that resulted from that union, ended the PURE genes that hitherto existed. And has since created the multi-ethnic species of the world's peoples, via conquests and subjugation sexually.

Black like Me vs Black-White:

Black like Me vs Black White:

In October 1959 a white, 39-year-old Texas novelist decided he would dye his skin black and travel the South. The journal John Howard Griffin kept of that experience, published two years later as Black Like Me, earned him death threats.

It was also hailed as a classic contribution to the story of race relations in America. The San Francisco Chronicle called it "a social document of the first order, providing material absolutely unavailable elsewhere with such authenticity that it cannot be dismissed."

Griffin traveled through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. He wrote of trying to find work and of casual bigotries. He wrote of the kindnesses he found among the black people he came in contact with.

Wings Press, a small San Antonio-based publishing house, has just reissued Black Like Me in a hardcover edition ($24.95). Robert Bonazzi, Griffin's authorized biographer, corrects errors in previous editions and restores certain passages deleted from Griffin's typescript. The book includes a brief foreword by Studs Terkel and an afterword by Bonazzi that surveys the author's life and his views on race.

Griffin grew up in Dallas, studied as a teenager in France, during World War II collaborated with the French Resistance before fleeing the Nazis. He served in the Army Air Force in the Pacific and lost his eyesight as the result of a concussion.
He returned to Texas and wrote novels Ñ among them The Devil Rides Outside (1952) and Nuni (1956). In 1957 Griffin's sight returned, enabling him to launch his experiment in passing. Griffin was also a devout Catholic and an accomplished photographer and musician.

He died in 1980.

Black Like Me is the second Griffin book Wings has published. Last year the house released Street of Seven Angels, a satiric novel on pornography that never appeared in the author's lifetime.

Contact us mailto:milligan@wingspress.com

CONCLUSION:
The current 'Black-White' movie's conception fails to recognize that someone attempted this experience several years ago, and the horrors of that experience was very clearly documented in his book titled 'Black Like Me.' The author Howard Griffin realized from that experience that no White man could completely conceptualized mentally and psychologically, the gravity of the Black male & female historical experience of humiliation, and degradation as a people. And from which they could never fully recover!

The Nigga Blues Re-visited:

March 11-2006:

The Nigga Blues Re-visited:

Ever since my childhood, I could recall hearing my mother and other older folks refer to some Black people as 'niggers.' This expression overtime conveyed to me the distaste for a certain type of Black, male or female, who displayed a certain stereotype behavior, that was generally found to be distasteful, and derogative of Black people.

I heard my mom and others say that they do not like Black people who behaved like Niggers... This expression of distaste was eventually explained to me by my mother when I asked her what she meant.

She said in no uncertain terms the following:

* Blacks who behave violent:

* Black who cussed a lot:

*Blacks who were too loud or vociferous:

* Blacks who did not seem to care for their children:

* Blacks who did not support their children financially:

* Blacks who were not interested in maintaining a stable home or environment, and was not inclined to pursue an education, or a good job.

These are just some of the categories that she mentioned to me, and advised that I should never allow myself to fall into any of those categories.

Of course all of these categories were subliminally taught to us via the schools historically, And Blacks under colonial rule internationally, were subjected to all of these humilities, and categories, because it was felt and believed by the White or European conquerors, that we were not human, or even sub-human.

And therefore, had no feelings, felt no shame, had no ambition, could not compete with Whites at anything, and was not their equal. The expression 'NIGGA was used by the Whites in the USA historically, as a way to dis-associate themselves from us, and to assume a superior status. So giving Blacks the category of NIGGA, made them feel superior.

They taught their children, who ensured that their children too, had the same education as they, that Blacks were inferior, sub-human, and could never be their equal. That is why it was so difficult for Souther American Whites, before the Civil Rights struggles began, to understand and appreciate why Blacks would want freedom, equal rights as they, the ability to vote, equal jobs with equal pay, equal protection under the law, and the ability to rent, or purchase property, just like the Whites could, if they were sub-human or un-equal to Whites.

The current generation of Blacks do not have this experience of racial or ethnic experiences like those of us prior to the 1960's in America.

What todays young Blacks have, are the rewards from those who suffered, died in the thousands, fought for, was beaten, burnt out, and spat upon, in a struggle that many felt could never attain much, much less produce Statute Laws to ensure out Civil Rights are protected eventually.

Young Black & Latino entertainers call each other 'Nigga as a form of camaraderie, even grade school and high school level students use this expression very casually, as a form of identity, camaraderie, as an association of like-minded
people, with common interests, needs, desires, and aspirations.

Unfortunately, the historic negatives associated with this expression is still abhorred by many Adult Blacks, and those whose past experiences with this term was painful, humiliating, and derogatory.

So how do we deal with this new flair for the expression 'Nigga that seem never to go away?

I say to those who are disturbed by it's prevalence, to teach their young the history behind it, and let them decide if it is still proper to use it as they do currently. Because failing to teach our young people the history of this expression, will only cause resentment from them, for not appreciating what they see as 'cool' and Hood camaraderie!

The Embarrassment Of The Academy Awards-2006:

March 06-2006:

The Oscar Defined:

An annual award by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for achievements in motion picture production and performance.

Awardees are given The Oscar as a token or recognition, for exceptional performance/s in their individual field or craft.

The Academy Awards-2006:

I was extremely embarrassed this year when an award was given to the group that sung the pop song 'It's Getting Hard Out Here For A Pimp." This song to my mind, glorifies exploitation of men and women sexually, for money. And this is usually done via coercion, threats, abduction, drug addiction, and Loan Sharking.

So what is it about this song to warrant an Oscar?

Are we to accept sub-standard, moral depravity, marginalization of people negatively, and the promotion of filth and debauchery, as the new standards by which excellence is measured?

I sincerely hope that a revision is seriously contemplated, by those involved in the selection process. And to ensure that the standards hitherto observed never gets lost, or becomes irrelevant.

Help Us Tell AOL Where To Shove It's E-mail Charging Idea:

Tell AOL To Drop Its Pay-To-Send Email Plan:

We're extremely troubled by AOL's plan to introduce a pay-to-send email system that will guarantee access to AOL customers' inboxes for senders who pay $0.0025 per mail to escape anti-spam filters. Last week, we helped assemble a coalition to persuade AOL to drop this misguided scheme.

Our worry is that AOL is trying to sell preferred access to something that it does not own -- its members inboxes -- and creating a delivery charge to email senders. The system creates a perverse incentive for AOL to lower the benefits of free email delivery and let its spam filters languish, encouraging senders to switch to the for-pay alternative. The company's first steps confirmed this, as they declared (then hurriedly denied) that they would be dropping their Enhanced Whitelist, a free service for trusted email senders.

One might trust that the market will eventually sort this out: rewarding ISPs that do not sell access to their users' inboxes and that work to improve deliverability for everyone, not just senders who pay. But the market speaks slowly -- in the meantime, this system will push small speakers into a choice of paying or not being sure that their messages are getting through to their members. And recipients often won't know what mail they are not receiving, making it difficult for the market to work.

Many AOL users have significant impediments to moving away from their provider, with its proprietary and closed software. Meanwhile, other mail providers, like Yahoo!, are already eyeing the revenue opportunities of pay-to-send. Microsoft's Bonded Sender is actually worse in many ways.

Since AOL's members are also the members of the nonprofits and other groups that would be hurt by this program, we thought it should hear from them. That's why we pulled together a diverse coalition of email senders to oppose AOL's pay-to-send system. Over fifty groups with nearly 15
million members joined with us, including Free Press, the U.S. Humane Society, the Gun Owners of America, MoveOn.org, RightMarch.com, the AFL-CIO, and Computer Professionals for Social Responsibility. Around 30,000 individuals have signed our petition, including Tim O'Reilly, Michael Geist and Chris Pirillo.

Earlier today, AOL made its first concessions in this battle. We're sure that, with your support, it will make more. If you'd like to help, visit Dear AOL, and help us help AOL avoid making a terrible mistake.

The New USA & India's Nuclear Deal-2006:

March 02-2006:

USA & India's Nuclear Deal-2006:

India historically has always been suspicious of the USA's policies towards them as a nation. Several promises were made to them before for improved relations with the USA, but nothing tangible ever came of those promises. India developed a policy of 'Non-nonalignment with any country that does not approve of her internal policies of governance, and trading partners. These policies allowed India to trade with whomever it pleased. Thus trade relations with the former Soviet Union, and other countries with similar policies of non-alignment.

India has never signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, and continued to experiment with nuclear technology, thus creating it's own nuclear weapons, without the help of The USA. Today she is a bond-fide nuclear power, and cannot be ignored as just another developing country in Asia.

The George W. Bush administration is telling Iran to co-operate with the I.A.E.A. for sporadic inspections without fore warning. And failing to allow inspectors to see what Iran is doing at her nuclear plants, is an indication that the alleged process of nuclear fission technology is underway, and cannot be allowed to continue without explanation, and proper supervision

This position is also taken with North Korea, and currently it is Japan that is facilitating such talks with North Korea for the USA, on these matters. The progress or non-progress of such talks is still to be determined.

This new deal with India has contravened the non-proliferation treaty agreement that is currently observed, as the framework from which monitoring and control can be determined. But India has never signed any such treaty before, creating a precedent for any potential country with nuclear technology intentions, to go ahead with their plans, and ignore any such treaty, or threats.

Will the US Congress approve such agreement with India currently?

The Republican Party has the majority in the US Senate, (the law making body). They also have the leadership of all committees in the House. And these committees are the places where all bills/legislation are sent to for discussion, accepted, rejected, or disregarded, before they are sent to the general floor of Congress for voting.

Because the Republicans are in the majority in both Houses, it does not matter who votes against it. It will eventually pass, probably with some minor adjustments.

So what happens then?

The gravity and total extent of this agreement is yet to be made public. But from the speech made by both The President of The USA and the Prime Minister of India, this agreement will help for the improvement and supply of electricity, to an ever increasing domestic consumption and demand in India.

I am very concerned with how the Irani & North Korean governments will react to this agreement, in terms of their nuclear intentions. In the coming weeks and months, there may be many surprises to be encountered from those areas.

Mardi Gras Celebrations In New Orleans-2006:

February 28-2006:

The Mardi-Gras Celebrations In New Orleans-2006.

Six months after the Katrina hurricane disaster in New Orleans & Mississippi, the traditional Mardi-Gras local celebrations of music, partying, float parades, and tourists, continues in New Orleans. The Major claims that it is therapeutic for the city, and is also a statement to the world that this city is not dead. It still lives, and will recover a new life similar, or almost similar to the one lost during the hurricane.

People deal with pain and loss differently, every individual has to find his of her own way to accept and deal with the pain of loss. And the city of New Orleans deals with it's pain and loss, by doing what it does best. Celebrating Mardi-Gras is just another way to continue doing so, and to bring in much needed funds that this celebration accrues, from the tourists that visit here at this time.

Some of us may wonder where is the rationale for all this revelry, when thousands are still without homes, have been re-located to other states, and the possibility of getting those people back into the city again is very slim. Because there is not much infrastructural development done as yet, to warrant a return of it's citizenry. Whatever adverse feelings some may have, several residents, including the Mayor feels, that the show must go on, because the citizens expect it to continue, the tourists expect to celebrate with us as usual, and they bring in much needed revenue to the city.

Happy Mardi-Gras new Orleans, and I sincerely hope come next year-2007, New Orleans would have rekindled the light it once shone so brightly, prior to Hurricane Katrina.

Curbing The Spread Of HIV In Communities Of Color:

February 27-2006:

Why Is It So Difficult To Arrest The Spread Of HIV
Within The Black & Latino Communities?

When HIV was discovered within the pre-dominantly White Gay community, most people said it was God's penalty to them for their promiscuous lifestyle.

Today the White Gay community was able to bring the spread of HIV to almost a stand still within that community. While the Black & Latino Gay, and Heterosexual communities seem unable to do so. With the on-going HIV prevention education targeted to these communities, and extra funding sometimes, and a national priority to curb the spread of HIV and other STD's in communities of color.

This pandemic is still a number one priority, that advocates feel is still not fully addressed or understood.

What is responsible for this seemingly un-stoppable spread of HIV?

There are several factors that I can identify, which may be contributing to this problem.

* Black & Latinos Gay & heterosexuals, still harbor prejudice towards people who are infected with HIV generally.

* Testing is encouraged within these communities, but how many return for the results. And how many inform their spouses or sexual partners and mates, that they are HIV positive, when discovered.

* Testing regularly is absolutely necessary if you are sexually active. A one time negative result cannot guarantee that you are still HIV free.

* Large numbers of Blacks & Latinos are into the sex work business for several reasons. Some say to earn much needed income, others say the lack of employment, others say they make more money on a daily basis from sex work, than from a regular job, with minimum wages.

* Some youth and adolescence refuse to seek employment, but prefer to sell 'ROCKS' (drugs), in order to make the kind of money that will allow them to have the flashy clothes, and other 'Bling-Bling material vanities,' that enables them to keep in step with the fashion scene.

* Then we have the 'Sex Parties' all over the five boroughs of New York City. This scene is gaining momentum.

I understand that at most of these parties, condoms are visible, and the choice to use or not to use, is left up to consenting individuals. But in climates like this one, I believe that drug use prior to entrance to these parties, may contribute to the inability to practice some form of prevention, in whatever sexual activity you indulge.

* Incidentally, I understand that drug use, and alcohol is not allowed at these parties. But who can validate such claims?

Hypocrisy-Pretense & Complacency:

There is still a lot of hypocrisy, pretense, and complacency when it comes to drug use, alcohol, and other substance use within communities of color. Injection drug use seem to be the preference for many, so 'Heroin addiction' is on the rise. Herpes, and hepatitis are also on the rise within communities of color.

So we have a Trilateral STD problem to deal with generally. No amount of finances will curb or bring this pandemic to an end, so long as we continue to harbor the mentality of complacency, prejudice, discrimination, and self hate. Changing this mindset, and attitude, is up to each and every individual, regardless of whether infected with HIV or not.

The responsibility is upon the shoulders of every individual, to take positive action/s to stop selling ROCKS, Crystal meth, Heroin, and any substance that will harm us mentally, psychologically, economically, socially, and morally.

What It Means To Be Truly FREE:

February 25-2006:

What It Means To Be Truly FREE:

Today I was contemplating this concept, and I was finally able to comprehend the gravity of this perception. So here are my views on this concept.

True freedom connotes the total ability to determine the Alfa and Omega of being. To be truly free is to be devoid of any external control, influence, or jurisdiction. This concept could be equated to time itself. Meaning that humans created the concept of time, therefore, time does not exist in the comic, because the universe is what it is. No beginning, and therefore no end.

The concept of the 'Alfa & Omega' (beginning and end), is only possible when their is something that created that concept. It is like the creation of humankind. There has to be some mind, or some intelligence that conceived this idea, to make it happen. This intelligence need not be matter. It could be invisible energy, existing in nothingness.

When humans began to organize themselves into communities, clans, groups, or tribes, their freedom ceased to exist. When humans roamed the earth, foraging for food, ate when they liked, or could, slept when they wanted, and mated when they felt like it. That was true freedom!

But when the situation came to fight for limited food, limited hunting grounds, and limited space to roam, then they had to contemplate the concept of self defense, and self preservation. When that necessity became evident, then FREEDOM no longer existed.

Freedom took on a different meaning since then. In order to be safe, one had to stick with the group or clan. In order to survive the winter, and other clans, one had to fight for the protection of self, and the tribe. In order to ensure enough food was available when there was a drought, one had to ration the amount of food per person or family, in order to survive as a group, until the season changed.

With modern society, freedom had another twist to it. One had to obey the rules/laws of that society, or suffer the consequences for breaking it. Prisons were built for those who broke the rules/laws. Guilt or innocence were determined primarily by those who made the rules, or established laws. And innocence or guilt, was also determined by those who chose to be the judge, and enforcer of those same laws or rules.

To ensure that your so called freedom was not compromised, you had to have someone represent you, (a lawyer), he or she had to have some understanding of those laws, and recognized as qualified to represent you in a court of law. And even there, there was no guarantee that you would be found innocent of the charges against you.

Institutions for the so-called mentally ill, was also established for those who seemingly did not have any intention to obey, or could not fathom their responsibility as citizens of that society. Either through violence, anarchy, or disregard for the society at large, or the laws of that society.

Individuals may be held in one of those institutions we call the 'asylum,' where he or she would be medicated, beaten, physically restrained, or just locked up, in order to protect the same society that created that situation.

In situations of imprisonment, one is physically no free. But in time, depending upon the length of stay there, he or she might eventually feel mentally and psychologically un-free.
When the individual feels mentally and psychologically imprisoned, then the physical aspect of his or her imprisonment seals the deal.

Thus one could surmise then, that he/she has totally lost freedom.

Therefore, it would be rational to contend, that in modern, civilized societies, no human is free. Because freedom implies the absence of all rules or provisions that restrict movement, thought, speech, sight, and sustenance!

US House Might Legislate To Curb The Exportation Of Internet Technology To Dictatorships:

Politicians accuse Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Cisco of having greater interest in profits than in free expression.

Grant Gross, IDG News Service
Wednesday, February 15, 2006
WASHINGTON -- Members of the U.S. House of Representatives today ripped into four U.S. technology companies, calling them a "disgrace" for allowing the Chinese government to censor some Web content.

Representative Tom Lantos (D-California) and other members of the House International Relations Committee criticized Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, and Cisco Systems for making profits a higher priority than free expression in China. "Instead of using their power and creativity to bring openness and free speech to China, they have caved into Beijing's outrageous but predictable demands, simply for the sake of profits," said Lantos. "These captains of industry should have been developing new technologies to bypass the sickening censorship of government and repugnant barriers to the Internet. Instead, they enthusiastically volunteered for the Chinese censorship brigade."

Companies Respond:

Representatives of the four companies said that they object to the Chinese government's censorship efforts, but also that they believe their presence in the communist nation will help broaden political debate there. Lawmakers criticized Yahoo because subsidiary Yahoo Holdings (Hong Kong) provided e-mail account information to the Chinese government that led to jail sentences for a Chinese political activist and a journalist.

The U.S. lawmakers berated Google for offering a censored version of its search engine in China, and Microsoft for removing from MSN Spaces a blog written by a Chinese journalist. Committee members questioned whether Cisco is helping the Chinese government block access to some Web sites by selling it network management equipment.

"We believe information is power," said Michael Callahan, Yahoo's senior vice president and general counsel. "We also believe the Internet is a positive force in China. It has revolutionized information access, helps create open societies, and helps accelerate the gradual evolution toward a more outward-looking Chinese society." Callahan called the case of dissident Shi Tao "distressing" to Yahoo. He was sentenced last April to 10 years in prison. The company did not know who the Chinese government was targeting or what crime had been committed when Yahoo received a demand for information from Chinese law enforcement, he said.

"Let me state our view clearly and without equivocation: We condemn punishment of any activity internationally recognized as free expression, whether that punishment takes place in China or anywhere else in the world," Callahan said.

Legislation Threatened:

Representative Christopher Smith (R-New Jersey) said he plans to introduce legislation spelling out what actions U.S. companies must take when doing business in "repressive" countries. More than 80 dissidents and journalists have been arrested in China for posting information critical of the government on the Internet, he said. "These are not victimless crimes," said Smith, chairman of the House committee's Africa, Global Human Rights and International Operations subcommittee. "We need to stand with the oppressed, not the oppressors."

Smith criticized Cisco, saying the company owns an estimated 60 percent of the Chinese market for networking gear. "Yet, Cisco has also done little creative thinking to try to minimize the likelihood that its products will be used repressively, such as limiting eavesdropping abilities to specific computer addresses," he said. Cisco can't control how governments use its network security equipment to block Web sites, said Mark Chandler, Cisco's senior vice president and general counsel. If China develops its own networking equipment, that will "exacerbate rather than solve the problems," he said.

END.

CONCLUSION:

I hope some form of legislation is enacted here in The USA, preventing Internet Providers from exporting technology to any foreign government, whose reputation is considered oppressive to it's people. And who is known to censor public information via the internet, the local media, television, the press, and any form of expression of Free Speech.

And a provision for harsh financial penalties if caught and found guilty!

Scores Die Amid Iraqi Shrine Fury!

Scores die amid Iraqi shrine fury!

More than 100 people have been killed in Iraq in apparent revenge attacks after the bombing of a key Shia shrine.

Scores of bullet-riddled bodies have been found in Baghdad, while in the bloodiest attack 47 factory workers were killed near the capital. President Jalal Talabani called an emergency summit of Iraq's political leaders to discuss the violence. Sunni Arab politicians boycotted the meeting and pulled out of coalition talks in protest at reprisal attacks.

"We are suspending our participation in negotiations on the government with the Shia Alliance," said Tareq al-Hashimi, a top official from the Iraqi Accord Front, Iraq's main Sunni Arab alliance. The Iraqi government has announced a daytime curfew in Baghdad and the surrounding provinces for most of Friday - in a bid to help maintain order around the period of prayers.

Dozens of Sunni mosques have been targeted and several burnt to the ground since bombers blew up the golden dome of the revered al-Askari shrine in Samarra on Wednesday morning, reports say. In a rare public rebuke, the main Sunni religious authority - the Association of Muslim Scholars - accused Iraq's top Shia cleric, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, of fomenting the violence.

I think Iraq is falling apart and there is nothing we can do about it Fred Mondini, Seattle. Ayatollah Sistani has urged Shias not to attack Sunni mosques, but a spokesman for the cleric said anger might be hard to contain. "You wouldn't expect an abrupt or sudden calm, because there are some people whose reaction you can't control," London-based Fadel Bahar al-Eloum told the BBC.

In other developments:

US President George W Bush calls the bombing of the shrine an "evil act" and appeals for an end to reprisal attacks. Tens of thousands of Lebanese Shia Muslims rally in Beirut in protest at the shrine attack. An angry crowd prevents Iraqi Housing Minister Jassem Mohammed's convoy from reaching the bombed shrine in Samarra. The Iraqi government cancels all police and army leave and extends the curfew in Baghdad.

'No-one safe:'

As violence showed no sign of abating, Iraq's leaders have increasingly warned of the dangers of a civil war. After meeting Shias, Kurds and leaders of a smaller Sunni group, President Talabani said in a televised broadcast if all-out war came "no-one would be safe", Reuters news agency reported. The attack on the al-Askari shrine - which will be seen as a direct assault on the identity and rights of an entire community - takes the danger of a civil conflict to a new level, the BBC's Middle East editor Jeremy Bowen says.

A civil war would destroy the chances of the elected Shia-led government which is still being formed following December's election, and could lead to the break-up of the country, he says.

Mounting toll:

In the heaviest single loss of life, the 47 factory workers were killed after being dragged out of their vehicles in Nahrawan, on the outskirts of Baghdad. The victims, aged between 20 and 50, had been travelling home from work in a convoy of buses when they were ambushed and shot dead.
it is not clear whether the murders are linked to the attack on the shrine or whether they are part of the general insurgency. Elsewhere, the bodies of a prominent al-Arabiya TV reporter and two of her crew, who had gone to cover the attack on the shrine, were discovered on Thursday morning.

Correspondent Atwar Bahjat's body was among the three found about 15km (10 miles) north of Samarra. At least 12 people died in a bomb attack on an Iraqi army patrol in the town of Baquba, while one person died in a gun attack on a Sunni mosque in the city. In other attacks, four US soldiers were killed near Hawijah, while three died near Balad, when their vehicles were hit by roadside bombs, the US army said on Thursday.

CONCLUSION:

It is ironic that Moslems the world over demonstrated, burned Embassies, and other foreign offices, when the cartoons of the alleged prophet Mohammed was printed.

Now they are killing each other because a certain sect of Moslems, the (Sunni's) in Iraq, have allegedly bombed the Shia's most sacred shrine.

This all seems so trifling and devoid of reason, when you look at the two scenarios. One was caricatures of the prophet Mohammed, and the other a Sacred Shrine of the Shia sect of Islam.

This all looks like the Law Of Moses:

"An Eye For An Eye-And A tooth For A tooth."

Is Peace & Stability In Iraq Possible?

February 21-2006:

Peace & Stability In Iraq Is dependent Upon National Unity & Collaboration Of All Iraqis:

Foreword:

We entered Iraq to liberate the Iraqi nation from a tyrant, butcher, and one time occupier of his neighbor 'Kuwait We were told that this dictator Sadaam Husein had WMD's (Weapons Of Mass Destruction), or the potential to acquire them, and was poised to use them on his neighbors, Kuwait and possibly Iran.

These allegations overtime, with the occupation and thorough searches underground, in bunkers, tunnels, castles, and bungalows, came up empty. Plus the commission that was formed to investigate these allegations of WMD's in Iraq, and the reason for the USA & it's allies to invade that country, also found many flaws, un-substantive, and erroneous evidence, to validate these claims.

Today in Iraq, there is the on-going insurgency from native Iraqi peoples, foreign Arab Jihadists, Syrian Jihadists, and disgruntled former Iraqi military personnel, who were relieved of their uniformed military command and employment, government officials, and thousands more who were suspects of Sadaam's former security forces.

These people have families to provide for, homes to heat, children to educate, but have no jobs to go to. No employment, and no prospects. Therefore, in order to provide for self and family, most of these displaced and hated remnants of the former Bathist regime, will do whatever it takes to provide for their families.

Most will offer themselves, (and have been doing so), to the Arab Jihadists who are willing to pay large sums of money to anyone, who is willing to take on Jihad against foreign invaders and occupiers in Iraq.

That is basically the bottom line in the rise or fall of the insurgency in Iraq. With the foreign Jihadist elements willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of American & all other military forces from Iraq, they are prepared to target the Iraqi Police, the military, and any agency, or officials that work for, or seem to be in collusion with foreigners in Iraq. This continuous terror will never end, until full employment can be provided to most un-employed Iraqi's.

Essential services like water, sewerage, electricity, medical facilities, Policing, and total national internal security becomes relatively normal again. But these services are dependent upon security, and safety for the workers who manage/run them.

And a political climate with nationalistic feelings, that we are all in this together, regardless of whether we are Sunni, Shia, Christian, or some other ethnic or religious group.

Until that consciousness and resolve to work together as one nation, one people, with one destiny, is achieved, then all bets are off for the time being!

Historian Sentenced To three Years In Jail For Free Speech:

February 20-2006:

Man Sentenced To Three Years In Austria For Denying The Holocaust:

Today in Austria a British historian was sentenced to three years in jail for saying in 1983, that the Jewish Holocaust never happened. He was sentenced under a statute law in Austria, that penalizes anyone who makes such claims.

This kind of penalty to my mind mimics those laws and actions one would expect only in totalitarian countries like North Korea, China, and even Cuba. If this is the prevailing attitude in a country that was used to house several Gas Chambers, and Internment camps for Jews, under Hitler's Nazi regime and it's genocidal actions upon Jews.

Then it is imperative to be more aware of the freedom to doubt any established views/claim. Even though it may be internationally accepted as fact. After all, Hitler's Nazi Party used the same methods to silence the German people into submission, with death, concentration, imprisonment, and expulsion, for those that opposed Adolph Hitler's Nazi policies.

What is at stake here to my mind, is the threat of political, and legal sanctions, for those who chose to assert their Right to Free Speech!
