Americans Shrinking Social Networking!

June 25-2006:

Researchers from Duke university have found that Americans are blaming the Internet for the cause of a lack of friends or for socializing. In fact here is the Quote:

"Duke and University of Arizona researchers are citing the Internet as one of the main contributing factors to a shrinking of social networks among Americans."

Attention:

It always amuse me whenever I see remarks or comments of this sort coming from Americans!

Most Americans hardly ever communicate with each other, (including relatives), and this happens primarily only when they need something from them. I have found this to be the general rule of things in this culture. Blaming the Internet for something that has never really been the norm in this culture, is a fallacy in totality.

When the telephone answering machine was introduced, I thought now here was a piece of technology that would at least allow callers to leave a message whenever you call them for you. Even this is ignored by Americans. And most of the time if you need to reach a relative or friend in America, and you leave a telephone number to call back to, it is very often ignored, and if they do return your call, it is days or weeks afterwards.

As for sending letters to Americans-forget about it! No response will ever be forthcoming via that medium for sure. With the advent of the Internet and Instant Messenger facilities, I had hoped that it would help somewhat. But even here, I have found the same dis-regard for clear, concise, and sensible responses to any message.
Adding fuel to the fire, is this ridiculous Internet lingo that is used by many users, which lacks any sensible grammatical foundation, and coherence!

So this so-called research is not an accurate reflection of the harsh realities, of American daily inter-personal human relations!
