Asian Cultures And The Groveling Mentality Within!

I have observed time and again, the phenomena that is so obvious among Asians or those from that hemisphere. To seemingly grovel to the Caucasians or those in authority. This attitude can be seen on the job at several companies, delis, and factories in New York City and State. And I ponder this behavior with some disgust and repulsion.

I have also learned from my readings and personal experiences, that cultures that were former colonies tend to have this colonial vestige or behavior within. And even though most former colonies of Britain, France, Spain, The Netherlands, and Portugal, are now Politically independent countries.

This behavior is still ever present in every facet of their internal body-politic.
I also see Asians in New York City gravitate towards the Whites or especially White men, over their own brothers and sisters, for love, relationships, socialization, and sometimes even marriage. And I get the impression that it must be some form of inferiority complex that propels or influences them to make these choices. I also learn from my readings of Asiatic cultures, the traditional internal classes, regional, and social stratification, that were endemic in those cultures from time immemorial. And still permeates these societies to this day.

For example, in Japan, the Japanese woman is not allowed to walk alongside her husband or male counterpart in public. This expectation is gradually changing today. In China, it is the same thing there too. And women have less social regard, respect or value from men in these cultures generally also. Especially in the rural or agrarian regions!

Currently, China is rapidly moving ahead with internal economic development. Thousands are leaving the hills, and country areas for the jobs and wages to be gained in the cities. Even though most of these new arrivals and job seekers will never be able to settle in any of those cities, because their wages will not allow them to pay the rents of those lavish apartments and condos, that are being built in the cities.

Many have to commute for long distances to get to their city jobs, then travel back to the country at weekends if possible. This can be a very costly exercise. So thousands stay in shelters or hostels that they can afford, for weeks on end, until they have accumulated enough money to return home in the country areas.

During the time the men are in town seeking work or working. The women or wives have to care for the children, care for the vegetable garden, livestock, or any other needs while her husband is busy trying to make a living in the cities.. So children cannot be properly brought up, is unlikely to get a real family upbringing, or education.

Meanwhile, China's communist government goes ahead with it's economic revolution, at the expense of millions of it's human resources that will never be able to participate or enjoy much of these changes or benefits.

Religion-Faith & Atheism!

With the current climate within the United States concerning Religion, God, and Faith. And the platform that these issues are taking by politicians, both local and national. Just let me remind those of you who are concerned about this rising phenomenon.

It is quite normal, right, and human, to believe whatever you think is right, sensible, just, and good. Be it in a God, Allah, Jehovah, or some other deity. It is also every individual's right to voice his or her opinion on anything he or she feels strongly about.

It is also quite human to believe or not to believe in any God or Creator also!
So do not let anyone, any organization, Village, Priest, Pastor, Vicar, Nun, Sister, Preacher, or Imam to tell you otherwise. Because if you allow that to bother or offend you, it invalidates your belief or dis-belief in any of those things above mentioned.

We are no longer living in an era globally, where those who did not openly accept Jesus Christ, Allah, or the Christian or Moslem God to be their savior, or creator of this universe. To be burnt at stake, imprisoned, quartered, beheaded, or castigated as Evil or Demonic.

Did The Troop Surge Really Made A Difference In Iraq?

Today there seem to be a LULL or decrease of suicide bombers, IED's, Sunni & Shia killings, and mayhem. Was it the result of the troops surge?
Or Sunni leadership in several villages and townships, to work or co-operate with the US forces in seeking out and destroying Al Qaeda insurgents in the country?

* The lull in violence between Sunni and Shia in Iraq, has dramatically reduced currently.

* US soldiers deaths have dramatically reduced since the troop surge.

* There seem to be relative national security/safety felt by many Iraqis in the streets and villages currently.

Taking into consideration the above situation in Iraq currently. Just let me make a few remarks on this phenomenon.

Firstly, I believe that the troops surge had little to contribute to the lull in national violence. The Sunni Tribal leadership realized that Al Qaeda was reeking havoc, in terms of wanton killings of Moslems from both sides in this conflict. And Al Qaeda Mujadeen Arab fighters are all foreigners, who came to Iraq to implement their own agenda against the US, The Shia, and anyone they deem anti-Moslem or the infidels. These wanton and irresponsible killings created an atmosphere where no one felt safe anywhere. So the Sunni and Shia rift became blurred in this scenario of wanton killings.

So when the Sunni leadership decided to work with the US forces against the Arab Al Qaeda Mujadeen fighters. The situation took on a different flavor or face. Thus paving the way for more co-operation between all parties involved in national security, and possibly national re-conciliation.

However, let us not forget the social, administrative, and infrastructure problems that face Iraqis generally. Especially the Sunnis, who are not equally represented in Parliament. And whom do not share equitably in the national administrative departments or ministries.

Until some equitable situation or agreement is reached for governmental administrative supervision and representation for these two principal groups. There will continue to be strife and more political conflict ahead.

A Floating Prison For Immigrants In The Netherlands!

In the Netherlands at this time is a Floating Prison that sits of one of it's many canals or waterways. The motive for building this prison on the water, (says the Dutch government), is to send a message to illegals, that should they be caught, they will be sent to live there, until they decide to return to their respective countries.

This reminds me of ALCATRAZ. The only difference is that Alcatraz is on an island, and the Dutch prison is floating in a canal.

However, should the US consider this measure as one of the solutions to it's Illegal Immigration problems. This method of quarantine is uncivilized, and ridiculous in intent, and to even suggest that prisons of this kind will be accepted by the American people, is preposterous!

And where would such prisons be placed.

* Would some be placed on the Hudson River, the Mississippi river, the Pacific ocean, or in the Hawaiian island's waters?

The Netherlands was once considered to be the most favorable country to immigrants (illegal or not), some time ago.

Not any longer!

What is Nostalgia?

Definition: Longing for something past:

Today, I was listening to the radio station wbai.org, a program titled 'Talk Back.' And the discussion was on the feeling of NOSTALGIA that so many of us experience differently. But is so very familiar to many of us, at various times in our lives.

The host of this program's name was Ormando, and he dealt with this subject quite intelligently, sensitively, and humanely. He even cited some of the original thinkers and coiners of this idea or theory. But by and large, he stated that to be nostalgic, is basically to recall some experience or experiences, personal in nature, that we may have enjoyed or loved at some point in our life. Be it childhood, adolescence, or early years in our home or homeland.

Some callers phoned in to give some of their personal experiences with nostalgic longings in some of the areas above mentioned. Some identified certain types of music that is able to catapult them mentally, into some past time or event that they enjoyed or lived. Some cited the sixties and seventies discotheques, and attitudes that those young people seemed to have generally lived and portrayed.

The freedom of expression, sexual experimentation, and political advocacy that was all part of the socio-political climate globally at that time. That so many of us who were young or younger at that time, felt a part of.

This brings to mind my own feelings of nostalgia sometimes, since I am also from another culture and homeland. Sometimes I feel a longing for some of those feelings, smells, attitudes, intimacy, and collective camaraderie that I felt during the sixties and seventies in Guyana, my homeland. And coming to the USA when I was already at the age of 39 years, fully matured, mentally and psychologically fixed in most of my ways and feelings of who and what I am, and what I expect from life.

This new cultural experience can sometimes be very aggravating, impersonal, un-friendly, and egocentric for my accustomed view or life and human relationships.

Finding true friendships in this new culture, has not happened for me. Finding True Love has not happened either. And being able to have discussions on world or global affairs with some objectivity, coherence, and meaningfully in this culture, could be a tiresome and un-stimulating experience for me.

So nostalgia in the sense of feeling disconnected from, belonging to, or being able to establish true or genuine friendships, have not materialized thus far, in this adopted culture.

Police Chiefs nationally, and the local media are pondering and speculating about the spate of assaults on Police on duty currently. And wonders whether it is a deliberate attempt at targeting the police as personal or organized vendetta.

However, I still cannot understand why these incidences come as a surprise to these two groups. If they have been monitoring carefully, the rate of Police brutality and killings of innocent or suspected civilians on the streets, and in their private domains. Then at some point in time, these actions will come home to roost.

Remember New Orleans & Louisiana-Hurricane Katrina's Disaster Un-finished Business:

* Trailer Homes were given to many Blacks after the hurricane to live in.

* These trailers have been known to be infected or polluted with harmful chemicals that can cause cancer.

* Black residents of New Orleans after the disaster, were taken or forced to board buses, and taken to different locations forcefully by Black Water Guards and the National Guard.

* Some of these residents were not allowed to have their children with them on the same bus, when they were taken away.

* This obvious quarantine and separation has had severe consequences for Blacks who were poor, illiterate, frightened, and felt hopeless after this tragedy.

* Those Black residents who owned or rented homes or apartments at the time of the disaster, and did not have adequate flood insurance coverage to compensate. Are unable to get financial help from F.E.M.A., and other agencies to rebuild their homes and lives.

* Thousands of Black New Orleans residents would be unable to vote come the next national elections, because they were scattered across this nation deliberately.

* Our political representatives in New Orleans and Louisiana MUST be made to account for this situation. And petitioned to explain PUBLICLY, what efforts are being made to re-locate, or return those former residents who want to return to New Orleans and Louisiana.

These are just some of the major issues that are still not being fully addressed by the authorities in Louisiana & New Orleans.

What Does Halloween Mean?

I typed this question on my Browser, and what came up in the menu for answers, still does not adequately explain this American festivity.

* Some answers or most answers claimed, that it is a time when children go from house to house collecting Candy, Chocolates, and other treats, all dressed up in costumes.

* It is celebrated mostly by children historically in many forms. But mostly portrayed as Dead or Frightful beings or Apparitions of the dead, the Crypt, and the Under World.

* But basically most answers claimed that Halloween celebrates the Dead or Deceased.

In some cultures like Japan and Mexico, it is called Ancestral Worship or Ancestral Celebrations.

However, whatever it was or currently is, New Yorkers have been celebrating it via A Road Fiesta or parade, with costumes that portray most or all of the above mentioned aspects. It starts in Greenwich Village-New York City, and ends at 21 St Street in Chelsea. This parade movers along 6th Avenue in West Village-New York City. And each year it seems to attract more revellers who are very creative.

Some of these costumes surely does not reflect the True intent or Theme of this parade!

But that doesn't seem to matter to the organizers or the public spectators either. So long as the costume designers maintain some "Family Friendliness" or Concern, with the styles and amount of SKIN that is exposed.

Do you know that from time immemorial, Sages, Gurus, Shamans, Monks, Spirit Healers, & those who profess to have magic, supernatural powers or insight, indulged in the following practices:

* Most smoked or inhaled Ganja, Hash-Hish, Opium, or some other Mind Altering substance.

Under the influence of any Mind Altering drug or substance, the Brain gets confused or is heavily compromised by this intrusion, and the following results.

* Weird experiences with so-called Demons, Gods, Super natural experiences, the hearing of voices, seeing things or people.

* And very often, the feeling after that experience, that you were chosen to prophesy, go on a pilgrimage, teach, protect humanity from their Evil deeds. And to warn humanity of some future Natural destruction or ARMAGEDDON.

Under these circumstances, most religions, or religious philosophies were born, coined, practiced, and promulgated. And many of those who had experienced these things were either castigated as Devils, Evil Doers, Spiritual Healers, Faith Healers, or Saints.

From these scenarios emerged overtime, institutional religious practices, and doctrines.

What Lies Beyond The HUSTLE Or HUSTLER Existence?

I have often pondered upon the motives or reasons why so many Rappers sing about the Hustle or Hustling in the Hood or Ghetto. And not seeming to give any solution as to it's end or objective. Even after so many of them have become financially successful. This attitude of always commenting upon the hardships of every day living in the Inner City Ghettoes or Hood, is not confined to any one Ethnic group. But transcends all poor or lower income classes, that are in the earning category or less that (Sixteen Thousand US Dollars per year).


Very few Rappers have indicated in their music at some point of economic success, that they are content with this socio-economic advancement. And will be using some of their newly earned wealth/ resources to help some of their economically dis-advantaged brothers and sisters to get an education, stay in school, eat regularly, be able to own or access better housing. Or learn how to do or conduct personal business or enterprises.

Looking back to the early days of Tupac Shakur's music about his Ghetto life, upbringing, parental supervision, and fatherless home. Reminds me that he did not live long enough to move on with his Biographical agenda. Because he was killed in the process of telling his personal stories. Then we have J-Z another former Ghetto kid, and now a successful CEO of Def Jam Inc,. He too has a similar background, and is in a position to lead the way, in turning around the mentality of perpetual struggle, to some real or realistic objective.

After all, no struggle is perpetual. And all struggles are perceived as temporary by those who are in the struggle. And it is nonsensical to embark upon any struggle, that has no perceived objective or end in sight.

Will It Be Hillary Clinton Or Barack Obama In 2008?

Harlem Blacks Prefer Hillary Clinton As The Next Presidential Choice?

WORD-UP:

A recent poll was taken in Harlem from the Black community there. It revealed that Blacks felt that Senator Barack Obama is not yet fully qualified to sit in the White House. Nor has he done anything to convince Black Americans that he has their interests at heart.

And the majority (according to the poll), supports Senator Hillary Clinton as the preferred Democratic candidate for the presidency in 2008.

Well, I dare say. If this is an indication of the thinking of Black Americans towards someone who has dared the status quo, to step forward and challenge the right to run for that office.

* Someone who is American by every stretch of the imagination and identity.

* Someone who is better qualified on the current Democratic ticket to run for the nation's highest office at this time.

* And someone who is a reflection of what this nation and culture has purported from it's inception.
That all are equal under the constitution.

Should be so evaluated as not 'fully qualified to represent them,' a fraction of the entire populace of this country.

Does Hillary Clinton qualify to be that choice. A one time First Lady, who after learning that her husband and sitting president, indulged in behavior un-becoming, for someone in his position, and the office that he represents. Still clung to him, while he lied to the Congress about this act, even though it was found to be so.

Is this the person that all Americans would like or prefer to sit in the White House as President come the next elections?

I hope that whatever decision Americans make at the forthcoming Democratic Convention in 2008, that whatever the democratic choice is, will not come back to haunt them. Like George W. Bush's supporters after his second landslide victory, as he continued to disregard the Congress, and all Americans.

There are still some details to work out (the House's bill only extends it for four years), but it's clear both houses of Congress are looking to keep taxes out of the picture for the near future. San Diego, Santa Barbara, & Santa Monica are all Rich White Suburban neighborhoods.

So the response from George W. Bush, his supposed concern for their safety, and his intention to provide Federal funds for the displaced expeditiously.

This comes as no surprise to The Communities Of Color in New Orleans, and Louisiana victims of Hurricane Katrina's devastation.

It just goes to show what George W. Bush consider his priority in this national disaster.

Here in the USA, there is national controversy about immigrants taking jobs locally, and causing a situation where US nationals cannot earn a living wage.

But Germany today, is contemplating a system to encourage immigrants who are specially qualified in computer programming, engineering, etc, to be allowed entry, to work for companies that cannot find these skills locally. And other EU countries that need such skills may also provide a special Blue Card (a similar Green Card) Work Permit for these immigrants.

Not all EU countries are in agreement with this idea though!

Bush administration in Washington is preparing to launch military strikes against Iran in the very near future. All indications to this end can be verified by the following:

* The Pre-emptive Act that the Bush administration uses, to determine any military attack on any state or region they see as a threat to the US interests.

These rates are as follows:

Traditionally, it is believed that with diligent personal application, any student can pass his or her exams period. The motive for introducing tests or exams, is to ascertain the ability of students to recall their course work or lessons, on the subjects that they are being tested for.

So if you introduce financial incentives to encourage students to do what is vitally necessary for passing any exam. Then in fact you are telling those students, that failure has no monetary value.

But passing a test has a monetary value.

This incentive is directed to economically dis-enfranchised students in the school system.

CONCLUSION:
I am appalled at any concept that give a money award as an incentive for success. It pre-supposes that personal resolve, application, and focus, is no longer necessary for achieving success at school.

And who knows just how this will be perceived by those students from poor economic backgrounds who are in college, or is desirous of going to college!

This to my mind, is just another form of BRIBERY!

There seem to be a spate of intimidation acts in New York State, and other parts of the USA. Some of these intimidation acts are displayed in the form of 'Noose Hangings' at different locations. In some instances, indoors at Academic institutions, Police precincts, Navy ships and other locations. The concern for this recent upsurge of intimidation acts seem to bother the Black American communities.

Several public figures have voiced concern for these kinds of social, cultural, and historic threats to a certain ethnic community, (the Blacks), which reminds many of the co-called bygone days of LYNCHING or threats to Blacks during the 'Jim Crow' and Slave era in this country.

Keeping the concerns mentioned above in mind. Please allow me to give my perspective of this phenomena, and it's proper perspective.

Personally, I have no quarrel with anyone who feels like hanging a noose on his or her door, domain, premises, or street. With the intention to intimidate or frighten me or my family, into feeling that we or I should be frightened for our lives!

I also have no reason to fear any verbal aspersion or mention of any noose for me, should I not BEHAVE myself, according to some expected or prescribed manner either.

But I will give notice to anyone who intends to try such intimidation acts like hanging a noose in my view, or on my home or premises to be warned, that if or when such are directed to me or my family or home.

Then they had better watch out for me afterwards. Because that would be to my interpretation, a willful act to do me or mine personal injury or harm. And I am prepared to take whatever action/s necessary to protect myself and those of my family or personal property.

Furthermore, no amount of 'noose hangings' or burning of crosses could intimidate me whatsoever. Because I know that such actions are done by those who believe that such acts will 'BUGG' Blacks into feeling threatened. And by so doing, will give the perpetrator/s the feeling of GLEE or Satisfaction for his/her acts of ignorance, intimidation, or fear!

Another EVIL, Presumptuous, and Bigoted Religious personage, advocates publicly for a pre-emptive military strike against Iran, to prevent a nuclear strike against Israel or the USA.

Now, if that is not 'Terrorist War Mongering' pro-nouncements, what is?
These were the words spoken by pastor John Hagee, an Evangelical preacher and someone who calls himself a Christian. Another religious sensationalist who use the state of Israel as their platform for predicting some Armageddon in the future, according to Mr. Hagee and other evangelist's believers.

I have heard this kind of rhetoric before from many quarters. Adolph Hitler wanted to eliminate the Jews from Europe, and free that continent from that so-called plague. Asama Bin Laden, Sadam Hussein, Mussolini, Idi Amin, and many more war mongering and self-righteous world leaders.

Some used their own twist of history, some used religious interpretations, some used racist or ethnic means to justify their claim to prophecy.
This is all rhetoric that aim to muster support for, and incense the masses to their agenda. Which can only amount to one thing. And that thing is WAR-WAR- & more WARS worldwide!

This past July, lawmakers in Indonesia Papua province proposed a bill allowing the government to use microchip implants to track people with HIV. A Department of Health computer would then monitor their every action and location, presumably to log their sexual activity and preempt transmission.

The idea follows a report co-sponsored by the US government, which found that the province, the most isolated and poorest in the nation, has an infection rate of 2.4 %, almost fifteen times the national average.
John Manansang, a member of parliament who spearheaded the proposal said, "some of the infected people experience a change of behavior, and can turn more aggressive, and would not think twice of infecting others.

The use of microchip implants is one way to monitor them. Microchipping and other tracking measures have long been proposed in many nations, including the US. "We are not animals who need to be tagged," Robert Sihombing , founder and co-ordinator of the Papuan HIV/AIDS support group, Jayapura Support Group (JSG), told POZ.

To become law, the bill must be approved by Papuan government officials, and face a public consultation.

A CALL TO ARMS-PETITION THE US ADMINISTRATION & INDONESIAN GOVT. NOW!

This kind of quarantining was proposed by several officials in the Ronald Reagan administration, and the religious right, when HIV was discovered within the homosexual community in the 1980's. And strong advocacy, petitioning, and outrage was leveled against this climate of fear, ignorance, and bigotry. Thus far, these 'Holier Than Thou' elements were defeated at the get go, on this ridiculous attitude.

Today however, HIV is no longer perceived as a Gay or Homosexual disease. But a disease that has permeated all communities, and all genders within the USA and globally. Some countries ignored it until their population was ravaged to the core, like South Africa, New Guinea, the Congo, Uganda, and other African nations today.

I am appalled to learn that the US administration has had a hand in this proposal. And feel that it would be INHUMANE, HYPOCRITICAL, and UN-CIVILIZED, if this kind of HIV tracking is ever enacted by law in Indonesia. I can also see why this group was singled out for this kind of action.

They are the least informed about HIV, the least knowledgeable about their rights, the least able to advocate against this mentality, in a political system that is AUTOCRATIC, bigoted, and view some segments of their populations as disposable.

I strongly advocate that efforts be made diplomatically, and via the International Community on Human Rights, to fight this proposal, and ostracize Indonesia if this bill ever becomes law there.

Manhood & The Single Female Parent:

How Can I as A Single Mother Teach My Son How To Be A Man-Or About Manhood?

Preface:
Today I heard the above question asked on the wbai.org 'Talk Back' discussions, conducted by host 'Hugh Hamilton. And I was struck by this question so much, it induced me to write about some of my experiences growing up. Without a father at home, absent, non-existent, and clueless!

Why do so many Black and Latino young men are incarcerated at alarming rates. And continues to be incarcerated several times afterwards, for similar crimes, such as stealing, selling drugs, shop lifting, street fighting, gang banging, rapes, and burglary. This phenomenon has many facets to it, but some of the major reasons (to my mind), stem from the following:

* Lack of a male or father figure within the home.

* A father who is at home, but is abusive to his wife, or the son's mother, sisters, and brothers.

* A father who seduces his son, daughters, or drinks a lot, and becomes vociferously abusive to everyone in the home, aggressive, and verbally abusive.

* A father who has never contributed to the family's welfare, food pantry, clothing, or sometimes adequately providing for school clothing, or attending school activities or athletics that his son or daughter are a part of.

* A father who may have contributed financially during the years legally prescribed for 'child support,' but stopped after his son or daughter became of age or older in adolescence.

These are just some of the factors that influence the outcome of several male and female youths within the Black and Latino Communities Of Color. Thus leading to eventual arrests for stealing, crack smoking, crack selling, pimping, prostitution, gang membership violence, and high school drop outs.

Who is more qualified to nurture our male children towards manhood responsibilities?

I hear a lot today on radio, television, and other talk shows about The Black Churches lack of leadership to the communities they serve?
And I ask myself just how many Black and Latino families really visit those churches on a regular basis. And those who do, for what reasons?

And is it the church's responsibility to teach our children manners, civility, social responsibility, ambition, moral values, and respect for themselves and others? Have we forgotten how to raise our children with strong moral values, respect for self, family, community, and authority?

Do we expect the church to instill in our children the responsibility of paying taxes, saving something for a rainy day or some dire emergency, staying in school, applying ourselves diligently in order to acquire that diploma, certificate or degree?

These are just some glimpses of the problems that we face as a community, a family, and a people in this culture (the USA), and elsewhere!

So what do we do to correct some or all of these ills?

Firstly, I think we have got to return to the traditional basics like family values, family responsibilities, family ownership, and morality. The church is responsible for the spiritual guidance in understanding the Bible, Quran, Gita, Talmud, or Torah. We look to their experiences, knowledge, and understanding of those religious principles to guide us when we need some guidance, or explanation.

But mind you, everyone should also think for his or herself on spiritual matters. And make decisions based on sound judgements, convictions, and belief.

No one should force any child to become religious, or to convert to any religious doctrine or belief. And no one is to shun or castigate anyone for his or her dis-belief about a God, Allah, or the After Life, as per the Bible, the Quran, the Talmud, the Gita, or other religious doctrines. Parents both male and female must ensure that their child or children do their school home work, attend classes punctually, regularly, is fully rested at nights, by enforcing early curfew during puberty, and young adolescence.

Parents must cater to their children's questions about sex, sexual intercourse, gender identities, gender changes or alterations, sexual preferences, family formations, and adoptions.

If any or some of these areas are unclear, or is unable to be adequately addressed. Then it is the parent or parent's responsibility to refer his or her child to a library, the Internet, and other resources that could provide these much needed information and guidance to these enquiries. And most importantly, parents MUST admit ignorance of any issue, be it sexual identity, sexual preferences, or religious convictions to their children, if that is the case. And must also encourage individual opinion!

But do they know what he or she would look like?

* What will they say to him or her then?

* What would he or she look like physically?

* Is he or she supposed to be of a certain ethnic group, skin color, hair

texture, shape, height, or religious background?

* Is he or she supposed to be an intellectual, or from the Hood of Ghetto?

* Or just someone that you feel will be compatible with you in most ways?

* And will he or she see you in the same fashion, as a soul mate or significant other?

These questions and expectations are UN-REALISTIC. And may never happen in this life period.

Yes, if it is your destiny to meet your Soul mate or Significant other. From the moment your eyes meet, you will instantly know that he or she is someone special.

And would want there and then, to continue seeing each other. And this would be a gut feeling that you both would experience, without even realizing it personally.

As for whether he or she is your soul mate. That idea may never even occur to you both. Because just being together, seeing each other regularly, sharing with each other, and wanting to be together for all time, until death if possible. Is all that your heart would desire for each other.

Very few of us ever get that opportunity in this life. And those who do, are the LUCKY ones!

South Africa's Growing Middle Class!
It has been two decades since the new Black South African government of the ANC (African National Congress) has been in power, since the end of Apartheid.
There is a growing Black middle class, referred to as 'The Black Diamonds' in that country. This growing phenomena consists of about 40% of the total population, and continually growing. South Africans can now revel in the possibilities of a growing economy, greater economic benefits for all, hitherto unknown to Black South Africans.
But amidst this improvement in opportunities for some, there is still the ever present Shanty Townships that still blights this country's economic panorama. The government is still struggling with the continued construction of homes, to help stem the spread of this population of poor and working class peoples, that have not yet fully benefited from this growing economy.
But overall, the possibility of a better future for all South Africans is assured!
Let us hope that the sustained support for the ruling ANC party, and the continued vision, economic growth, financial management of the public funds, and private investment by South Africans to help in this effort, will be encouraged and sustained.

I get the impression currently from CNN and other local media personnel, that Senator Hillary Clinton will get the nomination in 2008: This kind of overall and coercive prediction, makes me feel that they are subtly telling the American people, especially democratic supporters to nominate her in 2008.
But I will not allow this prediction to bother me much!
Remember George W. Bush after his first term in the White House, when Americans realized that he LIED Big Time about the so-called Weapons Of Mass Destruction in Iraq was UNTRUE.
Yet they voted en-mass for his return to the White House, only to regret that decision shortly afterwards with the current situations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
However, are Americans going to repeat this scenario once again in 2008?
Let us wait and see if idiocy has become the means to select our political leaders de-facto.

It was the response from an invitation that was sent to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, from, Columbia University President Lee

Bollinger, that was responsible for his visit here today.
And I am at a loss to understand how could the president of such a prestigious university, insult an invited guest of that stature in public?

Furthermore, I was of the opinion that such an invitation was sent in order to hear from Mr. Ahmadinejad's lips, his reason for denying the holocaust!

However, it seems like the forum was used by the university officials, politicians, and the media alike, to make a mockery of someone they feel is Evil, a Terrorist, and a Hater of Jews.

This tells me just how petty, un-diplomatic, and frivolous these proceedings were. And I am certain that it would not in any way, persuade their invited guest to re-think or change his views of the holocaust or Israel.

The world community is already aware of similar aspersions made in the past from Hamas, Hesbullah, Palestinians, and others throughout the globe, about their hatred for Israel or Jews.
However, I am unable to comprehend the motive for this invite, and what outcome the university and others hope to gain from this scenario!

The Black Water & Other Contractors In Iraq-Behaviors!

It is common knowledge in Iraq and with those who have been following the current political and Civil War climate in Iraq. To be aware of the actions of several private contracting firms like the one cited above, and how they operate in Iraq on a daily basis.

Outlined below are some of these concerns and complaints:

* It is common knowledge on the streets of Baghdad, that several private security personnel operate there with impunity.

* These operators are charged with protecting USA foreign officials, goods, building materials and equipment, and other services from the airport and wharves en-route to it's destination.

* Sometimes these convoys are attacked by insurgents, who see them also as the enemy to their cause in Iraq.

* These contracted and heavily armed personnel try their utmost to protect their protege. Sometime un-successfully.

* And finally, these contractors are hired by the Pentagon, to do operations they feel cannot be done by the US army, because of logistical and other practical problems.

FURTHERMORE:

So these private contractors are used to do these kinds of protective and mercenary operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is also true that when the military and private contractors use the roads, they do so without consideration for proper road rules, or other Iraqi vehicles. And many of these convoys try to evade terrorists attacks by any means necessary.

And that might entail ramming into other vehicles on the roads, or behaving in an intimidating manner which implies, that other vehicular traffic had better get out of their way, "Or Suffer The Consequences." Incidentally, these contracted security personnel are paid exorbitant salaries, and allowed personal insurance coverage for themselves, as a LURE for them to continue working in that or those high risk environments!

So the Iraqi government said it has had enough of this mistreatment of Iraqi civilians, and they must leave Iraq now!

Could the US administration in Washington, dis-continue using these private companies anytime soon. I think not! This kind of out-sourcing of security costs the US government much less, rather than having it's uniformed forces do that job full time.

As we reflect upon what happened in New York City six years ago to date. Let us remind ourselves that the TRUTH about that destruction is still being debated by Americans in every walk of life. Conspiracy theories are available online to read, and digest at will too.

But the hole in the ground at what has become known as "Ground Zero," has yet to be filled with something that could appease all those families, and concerned Americans, for the lives lost. With an apt tribute and respect for the innocent victims, whom was used as guinea pigs by clandestine motives, disguised as foreign terror.

Be that as it may, what should we do now to end the continuous lives being wasted in Iraq & Afghanistan, in a war that supposedly is being waged against this foreign terror?

There is also a feeling both officially and in the media, that Home Grown terror is likely. And the nation must be prepared for more intrusion into their personal privacy, travel, and movements within and without the USA.

And one wonders just how much more of this official hype and scare tactics could the commonweal endure before it asks these questions:

* How do we identify these so called 'Home Grown' terrorists?

* And what profile are we talking about, in order to speculate it's validity?

* And what evidence or proof is there to support these suspicions?

How could any government ask it's people or the commonweal to support them in the fight against terror suspects. When the same government has in the past, and possibly currently indulges in foreign terror, and assists other governments to do the same in it's interest.

And gives financial, military, and technical aid to some governments whom it is known, are conducting terror against their neighbors, and other nationals they consider disposable or un-desirable!

The Internet & Web MUST Be Protected From Capitalist Monopolization!

Today there is a rapidly growing movement of Internet Capitalists who are bent of making the Internet another bastion for accruing insatiable profits, while trying to disguise their intention with slogans like Free Internet, Free Media, and Freedom to spread the Internet access everywhere without interference.

Yes, these vultures are using the Internet aggressively to do advertising, promote conservative religious views that serve some of their patronizers and communities, and support political candidates that cater to their own partisan interests.

The traditional E-mail accounts are being phased out. YouTube, once the outlet for youth and college students to make friends, share experiences with friends, exchange ideas, interests, and photos. Is now taken over by another Media Monster bent of accruing much more profits from this popular web site, and ever growing community.

So What Can We The Consumers Do To Stem The Spread & Takeover Of Our Cyberspace?

* We could petition our political representatives to legislate for the prevention of monopoly, or conglomeration of the Internet and web, by any government, or private enterprise.

* As consumers, we MUST petition for continual vigilance by those responsible for the regulation of Internet business, usage, and safety. To ensure that such moves or takeovers does not happen.

* We the consumers MUST also ensure that the Internet & the Web be accessible to all regions, states, and nations globally. And that the provision of technology, expertise, and know how, be made available to any country, state, or region that needs this kind of assistance for providing Internet Services to their populations.

And finally, that the Internet be protected from Government's interference, curtailment, prevention from accessing, and censorship, GLOBALLY!

BBC reported today about a nine year old Hong Kong Chinese boy is about to attend the University Of Hong Kong shortly. He has scored all A's in every subject, that a student has to sit to qualify for college entrance.
Indeed, he is a child prodigy. And will be the youngest student to attend that university.

He will be pursuing the attainment of his Bachelors & Masters in Mathematics.

We Are Responsible For Whatever Choices We Make!
I had a discussion with a buddy recently, who is now vacationing in Florida. He has Substance usage and Anger issues. But he feels that if he stays in New York City, the influences here (according to him), prevents him from making progress in a positive way.

This brother, like so many people I know, BLAME others or the society for their ills of mis-fortunes.

These people fail to realize that we all have CHOICES to make in every day life. And whatever choice we make, we reap the results of that or those choices.
Therefore, do not blame society or any person for your mis-fortunes. Because (no one) forced you to do to anything that brought negative results.

It was your VOLUNTARY choice!

So accept that and live with it. But let it be a lesson to move forward positively!

Who Speaks For The Ordinary Palestinians Based In Gaza?
Ever since the violent altercation between Hamas and Fatah party supporters, which caused the split or hiatus in the Israeli controlled, dominated, and terrorized regions. It is the ordinary Palestinian women, men and children who are starving, dying, homeless, jobless, and lives in perpetual fear of the Israelis and fellow Palestinians, on a daily basis.

The USA, and her European and Arab allies refuse to give or allow aid of any sort to the Gaza region controlled by Hamas. So until the blockade is lifted, the Palestinians continue to STARVE, DIE (primarily at the hands of Israeli gun ships), and fear for their daily livelihood.

This situation to my mind is terrorism disguised as a political necessity!

WORD-UP:

I feel that if anyone wants to publicly declare that GAYS or HOMOS are going to Hell, then that is their opinion, and should be allowed to voice them.
I would much prefer an OPEN and Public Declaration like that.

Than one that says "KILL all Gays Or Homos" in your neighborhood.

FREE speech can sometimes be very bothersome if we do not agree with what is being said. But in a TRUE democracy, FREE Speech is one of the CORE values that MUST be allowed to foster and remain alive.
Maybe those ministers who believe that Gays will go to Hell, will also be the ones to take them there!

FURTHERMORE:

The point I am making is simply this. People will say what they feel or think, regardless of whether it effects or bothers anyone else.
Because they feel it must be said!

What Laws can do, is to protect those who Wilfully do Harm (to the physical body or infrastructure), of anyone or thing, that they feel hatred for.
That is all that could be done to alleviate the growth and spread of ACTIVE hatred!

Could Cultural & Ethnic Diversity Really Survive And Thrive For All Time?

Tonight after watching a documentary on the history channel-13, about the history of Islam-Christianity & Judaism. How these religious belief's converts struggled to live side by side. And how they fought against each other for space, livelihood, and personal safety for centuries.

Even to this day globally, this religious diversity is threatened once again primarily in the middle eastern hemisphere. And I ask myself the question which the title of this article above states. But is amazed at the continuation of these social-religious and political struggles. Some of which purport or promote violence, Jihad, and martyrdom, for those who are gullible enough to get on board once more.

And I realize that this current phenomenon is just a replay of what has occurred centuries ago, and will probably continue for as long as humans occupy this planet. Which I believe is part of the drama or experiences that us humans must face. As we continue to grow, develop, and adapt to our continually changing social, intellectual, political, and economic environments.

Are There Too Many Colleges In The USA?

Are There Too Many Colleges In The USA Currently?

This question has bugged me for several years now. And I am yet to come to any realization for the need of so many colleges and universities within the USA currently.

Granted, getting a college education today within the USA can be extremely expensive. Tuition alone eats up the bulk of one's finances, not to mention course work materials, professor's personal book recommendations for research work assignments, computer ownership, live in or dorm expenses for full time (four year students), who have to live on campus during his or her college years.
Then there is the personal expenses for daily snacks, stationery, recreational activities, and personal telephone bills. And for those who are heavily dependent on Grants, Federal Aid packages, and Bank loans, this could be very distressing indeed.

Then deciding which college provides what course that is related, or what to do afterwards as his or her vocation, is major factor in determining what college provides that leeway. And colleges by and large have become factories, that churn out thousands of graduates every two or four years within this economy.

Just how many of these graduates get related, relevant, or decent paying employment, that provides benefits, and incomes that would allow for the re-payment of these hefty loans owed to banks?

And be able to provide some livelihood for themselves, without worrying when they would be free of these college debts is un-knowable!
